bland malty strong beer, with very little distinguishing characteristics of flavor. Should be called "Malty" and that would be a suitable enough.

Tap at CBM Koenji. Hazy gold with a nice soapy white head. Nose is banana cream pie and clove. Taste is a little too sweet for me. Nice hefeweizen mouthfeel and good spice. --- Beer merged from original tick of Weizen on 03 Aug 2015 at 20:06 - Score: 6

On tap at CBM Koenji. Deep brown with a tan, soapy head. Big aromas of espresso and milk chocolate with vanilla, star anise and prune on the nose. Taste is more of the same with a nice roasted espresso bitterness that stands out front. The chocolate kind of disappears, but the fruit and vanilla stay. Wonderfully sweet with a rich and creamy (oatmeal) mouthfeel/body. Wonderful stuff. Great finish with a touch of sourness also present.

Very dark brown color. Dark brown head. Beautiful nose of liquorice, dark chocolate, dark fruit, molasses and charcoal. Body isn’t quite big enough, a bit thin and too sweet (though it is a sweet stout so that is understandable). Intense molasses, dark chocolate and dark fruit in the mouth, though not perfectly balanced. Still nice lingering molasses and licorice finish. Decent stuff.

Cloudy white yellow color. Chalky white head. Spicy nose with lots of bananas and cloves. Smooth mouth with lots of bananas and cloves. Slightly sweet. I drank at the brewery and it was pretty damn impressive.

On tap at Bakujun, honestly I’d say it’s more of a golden ale. Pouring a clear gold with a foamy white head. The nose is malty sweet. The taste is honeyed graham crackers, malt driven but delicate and flavorful. Solid.

Bomber at Keyaki Spring 2015. Yeasty, dry, earthy nose with a bit of stone fruit and light malt. Grassy, fruity flavor, bitter finish. Don7t really get the Scottish part at all. A bit boring but drinkable enough.

med golden color. Frothy white head. Clean saaz hoppy nose. The mouth is very well balanced and very refreshing. Just a touch of diactyle though. Finish is a bit grainy, but excellent mouth feel and good body. Nice

I have tried an 8% stout from these guys that was called an Imperial Latte Stout but I am not sure if it is the same as what is in this 7% can. Here’s what I had to say about that tap at Bungalow: Imperial latte stout - sweet creamy coffee aroma. Medium bodied, coffee & creamy fairly smooth bodied. Now on to the can, served in a pint glass it pours out reddish-brown like a cola and settles into the glass a dark brown verging on black with a filmy tan foam that leaves a whispy skim along the beer’s surface. It has a creamy roasty coffee-ish aroma. The carbonation seems sharper from the can but the mouthfeel is overall very smooth. The taste is roast coffee with a generous helping of cream and sugar. This is a damn good sweet stout and by far the best of the three. It’s well balanced, a bit sweet but not cloying, roasty without being acrid and has a great sweet creamy coffee flavor. Wonderful, I am guessing that these are the same beers but they just haven’t standardized their naming yet.
