Cask at 12 Kings Pub, Vancouver
black color with frothy head. Mild aroma, big sweet chocolate flavor, lean mouthfeel, it has a peculiar fresh/spicy/fruity distinctive touch, maybe orange zest.
Pleasant.

Notes from BC beer awards - may be different batch. On tap. Pours black with light head. Aromas of roasted malts, milk chocolate and coffee grounds. Flavors are same. Light oily mouthfeel.

On cask at 12 Kings Pub, pours a deep dark brown with a medium beige head. Aroma brings out loads of chocolate milk -- not much else. Flavour is like a chocolate milk rolled into a beer. Seriously, it's like pure chocolate milk alcoholized. It's rather sweet, becoming slightly cloying with more sips. Drinkable in smaller amounts, as it gets to be a bit much after a while.

Draft - Spicy rye and pepper with some citrus. Clear copper with a rich off white head. Spicy, grassy, bitter and peppery. I appreciate what they are doing, not sure if the rye works for me. Well done, but not to my taste.

Draft - Cask - Vegative, starchy and some sweet fruit. Cloudy gold with a decent white head. Fruity esters, sweet peach, mango and papaya. Not my thing.

Draft - Cask - Bright grapefruit peel and citrus fruit. Hazy gold with a little head. Orange peel and lots of other citrus, very flat and juice like. Lack of carbonation hurts this beer a bit.
