Very Hazy golden amber color with a tinge of red. Frothy white head. Extraordinarily dry nose with faint hints of strawberry, wheat and slight burnt character. The mouth is light somewhat fruit with modest strawberry presence. This beer isn’t a disaster. This is actually not a bad beer and could be cloying sweet strawberry weizen but it’s not. It’s restrained, perhaps too much so, but it’s not flawed. I dare say for what it’s trying to accomplish it’s... its....good. Wouldn’t particularly seek this out but gives me some faith that yyg has turned a bit of a corner.

Light amber color. Lots of lactic notes in the nose with stewed apricots, celery and corn, though weird and funky not bad. Light body, fairly sour with lots of lactic notes, actually not bad balance but i think the lactic becomes a bit too overwhelming (though nothing extreme) and distracts. This beer has potential and I am amazing yyg is not totally screwing up this beer. Apparently if they try to make a session IPA all hell breaks loose but give them a sour ale and they can do ok. I would like to see apricot or even ume with this beer.

hazy amber brown color. No head at all. The beer showed fairly hoppy nose, but initially was served so cold it was hard to pick up much character. The description is "berry, banana and caramel.." And that is pretty accurate for the nose. For 9.7% the mouth is pretty light and unnecessarily grinding bitterness for 50 ibu. As it warmed up I got a fair amount of citrus notes in the mouth. Quite a boozy bitter finish. Pretty unsophisticated.

very dark golden color. The nose is slightly tart and citrusy. Light body, not as tart in the mouth but low bitterness. Very refreshing. Great summer beer but could be tweaked with more citrus character to add tartness. One issue is the IBUs are only 10, that is ridiculously low and more like weizen level.

very murky amber brown color. That makes you very suspicious that something is wrong. Unlike every IPA I’ve ever had, this literally had no nose whatsoever. Like water is more interesting that this. I like the beer warm up and see if something might come out, but it didn’t. Just bitter. The brewer made a mistake and is pushing the beer out. Not impressed with that.

Medium dark amber color. Nice toffee and apricot nose. The mouth is a bit thin and not greatly balanced. Light bitter finish.

Tap at YYG. Stinky, catpiss NZ nose with some light passion fruit notes. Clean and crisp on the palate. Almost like a blonde with NZ hops. Dry and not sweet at all. Slight pithy, lemony bitterness on the finish. Easy drinking and another decent to solid YYG beer. --- Beer merged from original tick of Wheat Ale on 12 May 2016 at 19:56 - Score: 7. Original review text: Nice stinky tropical NZ hop nose. Clean and crisp on the palate. Dry not cloying easy drinking.

Tap at YYG. Kind of underwhelming when cold, but once it sat for about 5 minutes out came a wonderful tropical fruit-forward nose with grapefruit. Medium body with some light caramel notes, but very hop driven beer. For the abv and being a new brewery the palate is well-done. Peppery bitterness on the finish (almost rye-like in a way). Really good and the best of the 4 for me. Really a lighter version of Modern Times Blazing World and Aurora mixed. Very nice beer. --- Beer merged from original tick of Yoyogi Amber Ale on 12 May 2016 at 21:12 - Score: 7. Original review text: Tropical notes, grapefruit. Modern times lite. Great!

Tap at YYG. Gorgeous tropical hop nose. Passiona fruit, mango and grapefruit all there. Average carbonation with a medium body. Juicy and tropical on the palate with some peppery bitterness. Finish is too astringent though. Overall fairly dry and not cloying in any way. --- Beer merged from original tick of Shinjuku IPA on 12 May 2016 at 21:41 - Score: 7. Original review text: Again nice tropical NZ nose. Dry and a tad astringent.

Tap at the brewpub. Dank, creamy nose of grapefruit, tropical fruits. Cloudy gold with lace. Jicy, tropical fruit flavor, peppery, nice hops. A bit thin, and the finish is a bit astringent and harsh, but overall pretty decent.
