473mL bottle, pours a near-black with a small beige head. Nose brings out burnt / roasted malt, some burnt espresso, and harsh piney hops. Flavour is much the same, though not as burnt as the nose suggests, and quite a strong flavour for a 4.2% beer! - bringing out notes of dry roasted malt, some burnt espresso and fairly potent hop profile. Great balance between the roasted malt and hop profile. Solid stuff.

473mL growler, pours a cloudy pale golden yellow with a small white head. Aroma brings out fresh mosaic hops, some Belgian yeast, floral notes, and pine. Flavour is very much the same, bringing out very vibrant and fresh hops. Highly drinkable and flavourful. Brassneck nailed this one.

473mL growler, pours black with a small tan head. Aroma of mostly roasted malt, with some dry cocoa, and fudgy molasses. Flavour brings out more of the same, with medium roasted malt upfront, with some secondary notes of espresso and chocolate, followed by an earthy quality. Finishes lightly roasty, chocolatey and dry. Highly drinkable stout. Great stuff.

473mL growler, pours a hazy pale bronze with a medium white head. Nose is pretty authentic, with notes of grain and bready malt. Flavour is very refreshing, with dry grainy notes dominating the palate. Highly drinkable stuff and one of the more flavourful kolschs out there. Good stuff.

On tap at Central City Winter Cask Fest. Best of the batch. Different than at Brassneck? Pours black with dark tan head. Aromas of vanilla, light bourbon alcohol, and roasted malts. Flavors are similar and rich: oak/vanilla and chocolate. Nice balance - bourbon is just right and not an overkill like many others. If this good on tap, wonder what a bottled version would taste like?

On tap at Brassneck, pours black with a small tan head. Aroma brings out loads of roasted malt, fairly heavy bourbon, though it is not apparent that this is Jack Daniels. Flavour is still pretty heavy on the roasted malt, followed by intense Jack, and some alcohol. Pretty intense, but the choice of barrels don't make for an optimal barrel aging experiment. A little harsh and not as enjoyable as the base beer. Still, great stuff.

On tap at Brassneck, pours a cloudy orange-tinted yellow with a small white head. Aroma brings out lots of brett, followed by a little banana and barnyard notes. Flavour brings out a mix of banana and brett, with some notes of clove and bitter hops on the finish. The banana notes are a bit detracting from the brett notes, same with the high hopping. Very dry, bretty and hoppy. Good stuff, but needs a bit of work.

Murky pale blond color with small head. There is some yeast and lemon aroma. Some wheat flavor, bread, with light sweetness; very light fruity impression, peach; low bitterness; lightly astringency in the end, yeast. Light coriander.

Flavour brings out loads of banana and clove, followed by some Belgian spices, and dry wheat. Very flavourful, with a great balance of notes. Quite dry, with just enough sweetness. Good one.

Good body, rich malts, some chocolate, moderate residual sweetness. Light coffee. Strong bitterness with a lot of hop resins.
2013-12-30, draught at the brewery, 6-4-7-4-14=35
Black color with brownish head. Mild aroma of roasted malts. Lean body; the roasted malt and dark chocolate flavor is quite good, supported by very light residual sweetness, some roasted nuts; correct bitterness; there is a light liquorice impression; the final is lightly creamy.
Balanced and well brewed.
