About
Well guys, we just make beer. That’s it.

The public space at Brassneck, i.e. the Growler Shop & Tasting Room are designed to have you, our customers feel as though you are part of our process. The brew house & cellar wrap around the tasting room & growler shop putting you in the very heart of the Brewery.

We have a special type of liquor license. A Brewery Lounge. Patrons do not have to be seated as in many other Food Primary locations in Vancouver. This combined with our communal tables makes for a pleasant social environment.

We have a really tiny 10 Hec system, with an even smaller Nano system for batches of around 4 Hecs.

Even though our system is small, we have lots of different fermenters. 14 in total (including a beautiful oak fermenter called a Foudre). This allows us to brew lots of different beers on a constantly rotating basis.

We are ALWAYS experimenting with different beer styles. We are three & a half years old & we’ve already brewed about 120 different beers. From Barrel Aged Imperial Stouts to Corn Lagers, Sour beers to English Milds, Brett Primary Fermented Wheat Ales to Traditional Saisons, the scope of beer styles is endless & we intend to cover them all!

Our beer comes to you direct from the conditioning tanks in our cellar & sells out quickly, so it’s always fresh.

Conrad Gmoser is our Head Brewer & partner, aided by Jeff Leake & Scott Wannop.

We’re always evolving so get ready for more great beers as time goes by & we expand production & have greater capacity for experimentation.

500mL growler from the brewery, pours a clear dull bronze with a tiny white head. Nose is pure English, with bready English malts, a coppery / metallic quality, and a touch of English hops. Flavour isn't as strong, with a pretty ordinary (as the name suggests) profile of English malts and hops - moderately bready, and lightly coppery. Solid take on the style, just nothing very interesting - I'm sure that was the point.

On tap at Brassneck, pours a cloud yellow with a large white head. Nose of all wheat - really fresh smelling - not much else. Flavour is the same, full of super fresh meadowy wheat, with a slight touch of chamomile. Really flavourful for the style and refreshing. Solid stuff.

500mL growler, pours a deep dark amber with a small tan head. Aroma of very light toasted malt and dark fruits. Flavour is very dry, with some dry burnt notes, toasted bread and some nutty notes. Quite dry and burnt, but fairly drinkable. Solid stuff.

500mL growler, pours a cloudy golden with a small white head. Aroma of light funk, some fruity notes and a little yeast. Flavour is very refreshing, with loads of fresh juicy hops, dry wheat and some light funk. Super refreshing and juicy, while still remaining dry. Great stuff.

473mL growler, pours near-black with a medium beige head. Aroma brings out some tart leathery notes, some barnyard notes, and a hint of sweetness. Flavour brings out some subtle barnyard notes, a little leather, and a very subtle dry tartness on the finish. There's a noticeable earthy quality to this as well. Very well-constructed, with a nice and dry, lightly tart flavour profile. Great stuff.

473mL growler from Brassneck, pours deep dark brown / near-black with a small beige was. Aroma is centred around English roasted malt, bready malts, and a sufficient hop profile underneath. Flavour brings out very dry English malts, light roast, bready malts, and just enough hops underneath. Very dry, English-like, but also quite watery. Too bad the flavour isn't as pleasant as the nose. Palate is likewise too watery. Decent, but missing something.

On tap at Brassneck, pours a clear golden with a medium white head. Aroma of loads of English hops on the nose and some soft bready malt. Flavour brings out the same, really showcasing the wakatu hops. Very refreshing and flavourful, especially for the style. Great stuff for a usually boring style.

Draft - Light malts and earthy hops. Clear reddish gold with a thin white head. Malty and bitter with no real flavors of either malts or hops to enjoy. This one was a miss for me.

Draft - Light grains. Pale clear gold with a thin white head. Typical skunky bitterness ending a be grainy and sweet. True to style, just not my cup of tea.

Draft - Aroma of bitterness and malts. Clear amber with a thin white head. Very bitter up front with a burnt sugar flavor with some grains. Finish is also very bitter. Too unbalanced with the bitterness overwhelming any malts.
