Pours clear golden with a large foamy head. Aroma of grassy notes, hay, ripe citrus, bready malts and hints of smoke. Taste is crisp, sweetish and stuffy with hints of hay, ripe citrus and bready malts. Finish is crisp and grassy. Okay.

Aroma has butter, grainy malt and some grass. Feels a bit musty and stuffy. Flavour has mint, grassy hops, some orange and grainy malt. A bit juice-like. One sweet and weird helles (or pils?).

Pours yellowish with a foamy head. Aroma of grassy notes, fruits, hints of smoke, caramely malts and toffee. Taste is earthy, grassy and mildly smoky with some hints of fruits and hay. Finish is smooth, earthy and mildly grassy. Okay.

Pours dark brown with a large foamy head. Aroma of leathery malts, hints of smoke, ash, tar and ham. Taste is smooth, malty and leathery with some caramel, toffee and hints of smoke. Finish is malty, caramely and earthy with some hints of leather, toffee and smoke. A bit unbalanced, aroma is from a smoked beer but the taste is like a malty amber ale with a touch of smoke.

Aroma is weird with smoke, leather and grain. Flavour has grain, minerals, smoke, black leather, licorice and yoghurt. Unusual and not my thing.

Flasche (1 l) von Hopfen & Malz, Berlin. - Tiefes Rotbraun, trüb. - In der Nase kräftige Rauchnote (Schwarzwälder Schinken), Malzsüße und ein unangenehm fauliger Geruch. - Antrunk fett dunkelmalzig (Münchner Malz) und karamelsüß mit kräftiger, rustikaler Rauchnote. Dazu eine fies „faulige“ Note wie von modrigem Holz oder Pilzen, etwas Leder und Tabak. Durchschnittlich rezent. Im Abgang schwach säuerliche Noten, die aber nicht gegen das karamelsüße Münchner Malz ankommen, und enttäuschend wenig Hopfen. Malzsüße und Rauch bleiben bestimmend bis zum Ende. - Etwas verunglücktes Rauchbier mit störenden Fehlaromen und deutlichem Hopfendefizit. Schade - von Pax Bräu hatte ich mehr erwartet!

Flasche (1 l) von Hopfen & Malz, Berlin. - Helles Orangegelb, leicht trüb, reichlicher aber kurzlebiger Schaum. – Schöne „exotische“ Hopfenaromen, die an ein Ale erinnern (Pampelmuse). - Im Antrunk deutlich mineralisch mit grasig-scharfen Hopfenaromen, die sich zum Ende hin stark verdünnen. Mild rezent, sehr schlank. Im leicht trockenen Abgang bleibt von den anfänglichen schönen Hopfenaromen nur eine kräftige grasige Herbe übrig. Längerer, gut bitterer Nachtrunk. - Im Vergleich zu marktüblichen Pilsenern unkonventionell gehopft, aber etwas einseitig und auch arg dünn. Hier könnten die Hopfenaromen noch etwas vielfältiger und „runder“ sein. Laut Etikett wurde ausschließlich Smaragd-Hopfen verwendet. Trotzdem ein originelles, süffiges Bier.
