Description
Together with his friend and business partner Jens Hinrichs, Jens Block is the Bunthaus brewery, Hamburg's latest addition to the already moving craft beer scene. The name of the brewery is derived from the location of their two hectoliters small specialty brewery. 330ml bottle. Slightly cloudy, yellow-ish golden colour with average, firm, frothy, moderately lasting, minimally lacing, white head. Fresh, grassy hoppy, slightly citrusy, hoppy aroma, notes of lemon, a touch of lime, lemongrass, chlorophyll. Taste is moderately bitter, grassy, minimally citrusy and waxy hoppy, a touch of lime peel, papery malty undertones; lingering, almost chalky finish with peppery spicy overtones. Slightly watery passages, slightly unbalanced.

Bottle shared @ Koelschtrinker's tasting. Smooth fruity malty beginning with a great mild woody back. The bourbon is there, fitting in well with a smooth woody vanilla back. Nice fruity woody bourban finish. Very nice balanced.

Draught, 10% at KCBD19. Aged on Laphroaig barrels. Smells of burnt plastic. Slightly smokey. Black colour. Big frothy light brown head. The flavour is like the aroma, burnt plastic. Not so much smoke on the flavour, more like sweetness. Thin mouthfeel if this is really 10%.

0,33 l bottle from Craft Beer Store, Hamburg. Bundle with Bunthaus Sour. Stand alone rating: Red golden and a little bit unclear in the glass, smallest white head. Boozy cask smell. Taste starts with some whiskey, boozy, also sweet sticky malty.
The two breweries recommend to mix both beers. Smells medical fruity. The Sour dominates the 50/50 mix. A smooth drink, no boozy whiskey taste. Nice experiment.
