Description
Twin Sails Brewing joined Port Moody’s “Brewers Row” late in 2015, opening right next door to Yellow Dog. The name of the brewery refers to its founders, identical twin brothers, as well as the common sight of sailboats that can be seen on the waters of the Burrard Inlet right out front of the brewery. Twin Sails focuses on progressive American IPAs and stouts and have recently implemented a wild barrel program. They are always trying to push the boundaries of what can be done with beer in BC. Quality comes first and foremost, but in the end, it’s just a bunch of guys and girls having way too much fun brewing beer.

Not very sweet, nice aromatics, but the mouthfeel is a bit too weak.

Very juicy, but not a fan of sweet wheat beers.

2016-12-24, can, 7-3-7-3-14=34
A pleasant drink, but the beer character is missing, and the hops., although fruity and juicy, don't have much punch; unexpectedly it has a quite strong orange juice character; low-tier of bitterness.
Refreshing, almost a radler.

2016-10-21, draught at the brewery, 7-3-7-4-14=35
Cloudy blond color. It combines the delicate citrus character of the hop with the white bread quality of the malts, dry, the aroma being more interesting than the flavor. Balanced.
Nice.

Draught at the brewery
Hazy golden color. Mild aroma, resiny and zesty hops. Dry mouthfeel, not much malt quality, some hard resiny hops, enough bitterness, but the mouthfeel gets a bit watery in the final.
A bit weird, but it’s a decent Pale Ale.

Draught at the brewery
Black color, compact brown head. Aroma of roasted malt and dark bread. Full bodied, softly carbonated; it has an excellent chocolate flavor, mild roastiness, robust sweetness, maybe some maple, and roasted nuts in the final.
Excellent.

Draught at the brewery
Murky blond color. The aroma of a spicy hefeweizen and some citrusy hop, light incense as well. The mouthfeel is too floury, muddy, yeasty, then astringent, resiny, and vegetable.
Extremely dirty.

On tap at Twin Sails, pours a clear dark copper with a small white head. Aroma is much less juicy than Day Blink, with resinous hop oils, some light tropical fruits, and a soft sweet malt base. Flavour is along the same lines, with subdued hop oils, some tropical fruits, and caramel malt sweetness. Palate is rather flat and lacking in dynamics. Can see why this wasn't worthy enough to be another batch of Day-Blink.

On tap at Twin Sails, pours black with a small brown head. Aroma brings out rich roasted malt upfront, with a touch of the maple syrup, and subdued dark cocoa. Flavour is dominated by the maple syrup, with rich roasted malt, huge maple syrup, and a touch of cocoa. The maple syrup is heavy but not cloying. Really well-done.

On tap at Twin Sails, pours a cloudy yellowish blonde with a small white head. Aroma brings out lovely wild yeast, with subdued stone fruit skins, and a touch of citrus. Flavour is moderately tart, with plenty of citrus tartness, moderate wild yeast character, and a bit of stone fruit in back. Not the deepest beer, but it's moderately complex and well-blended. Certainly one of the better local wild ales.
