Review based on the BJCP2015 guidelines (style 33B: Port/Whisky / 20C). Bottle 33 cl - Batch L19032A (BBF 2024). AROMA: medium-high alcohol notes with a soft vinous character. medium-low background of wood, Port and slight Whisky. medium-low to low roasted malt background (cocoa/dark unsweetened chocolate) with faint hints of dried grapes. APPEARANCE: very dark brown color to almost black. opaque. medium-low brown head, creamy, with ok retention. TASTE: initial medium-low Port barrel nodes with a vinous character, low wood, slight vanillin, faint Whisky. medium-low roasted malt background with hints of cocoa and slight coffee. medium bitterness with a semi-dry and somewhat roasty finish. PALATE: medium-high to high body. medium carbonation. OVERALL: a pleasant barrel aged Imperial Stout with more prominent Port notes (thankfully not sour) and not so strong Whisky.

Rebiew based on the BJCP2015 guidelines (style 33B: peated whiskey peated / 20C). Bottle 33 cl - Batch L1934BA (BBF 01/2024) AROMA: medium-high smoky peat wood with a low whiskey alcohol and slightly roasted malt background. APPEARANCE: very dark brown color and opaque. medium-low brown head, creamy, with medium retention. TASTE: initial medium to medium-high peat flavor with very faint whiskey flavor, followed by medium-low to low roasted malt (black coffee). medium bitterness with an almost dry, roasty and slightly peated finish. PALATE: medium-high to high body with a slight velvety texture. medium-low carbonation. OVERALL: an ok attempt at a peated whiskey barrel aged imperial stout a bit unbalanced towards the peated flavor/aroma.

Draught @ Duque Brewpub in Lissabon. Pours cloudy copper brown with airy off-white head. Clear aroma of yeast, malt and caramel, with touches of hops. Sweetish flavour of barley wine yeast and malt, with notes of fruit and burnt sugar and touches of hops and roast. Warming alcohol presence. Very well-balanced. Lingering, roasty, malty and estery aftertaste. Decent stuff.
