Almost black with a beige, creamy head. The 3 beans are coffee, chocolate and tonka. I’m picking up the former two in the aroma but not the last. There’s also a strong, roasted grain scent. Taste is bitter with plenty of grainy, charred coffee bitterness at the end. A hint of milk chocolate sweetness. Medium bodied, “mildish” carbonation. A good one and a pleasant surprise given that a of the German attempts at this style have been underwhelming.

Spritziger, moderat hefiger Beginn, sehr trocken. Deutlich erkennbarer Basilikum, spritzig, hefig werdend. Langer würzig herber, trocken kräutriger Abgang, der den Erfrischungsfaktor ein wenig eingrenzt. 12/10/11/9//11

0,33 l bottle from Getränkefeinkost, Münster, BB 12/2019. Unclear pale copper in the glass, very foamy one finger head. Low fruity smell, little bit yeasty. Taste starts dry fruity, some sourness, yeasty, some chewing gum, Belgian sugar in the background. Really nice, something between a Weizenbock and Belgian Strong Ale.

Buddel: Not completely clear, light amber coloured, quickly collapsing loose off-white head, mild sweet bitter nose with traces of toasted malt and herbal-woody hops; mild to moderate sweet flavour, low bitterness, light to medium bodied, quite soft; mildly lingering sweet toasty finish with even milder traces of herbal hops in the aftertaste. Way too sweet and light years away from the great Duesseldorf stuff...

0,33 l bottle from Getränkefeinkost, Münster. Now 5.3 % abv. listed on the label. Nearly black with reddish edges in the glass with a creamy more than two finger beige head. Looks really good. Smells malty, fresh, some sweetness and nuts. Taste starts hopy with sweet malt. Increasing roast malt with hints of fruity sourness in the middle. Getting thinner to the dry malty end.

Weicher, herb brotiger Beginn. Grasig-brotiger Mittelteil, Roggen, süffig. Steigende Herbe mit trockenem Hintergrund, angenehme Karbonisierung. Vollmundig, durch die Bitterkeit zum Schluss nicht übermäßig süffig. Gelungen. 12/9/10/10//10
