About
Hornbeer is a farmhouse brewery founded in the beginning of 2008 by Gunhild and Jorgen Fogh Rasmussen. The first brewery was very small, brewing only 300 liter batches. But end of July 2008 the brewery burnt down to the ground. Now Gunhild and Jorgen had to start again from scratch. In January 2009 the new brewery started operations. Nowadays the production is around 2000 hl/year. Hornbeer is well known for a very different assortment. Hornbeer´s philosophy is that the beers should be distinctive but still very drinkable.

(Bottle 50 cl) Slightly hazy warm amber with an off-white head. Piquante peachy hop aroma. Medium body with sweet caramel, fruity and again this peachy hopping with a whiff of yeast. Bitter finish but not overly so. 020808

(Bottle 50 cl) Pours an almost clear amber golden with a dense and creamy off-white head leaving laces. Full fat aroma hoppiness. Quite full-bodied with lots of sweet caramel malt, but also some not completely pleasant phenol accents and some spicy, herbal notes that combined with the sweetness gives the beer a cough syrup like medicinal character. Bitter finish with a distinct alcohol burn. 140608

(Bottle 50 cl) Slightly hazy warm amber golden with an off-white head. Sweetish aroma of roasted malt and Danish rye bread. Quite full-bodied with sweetish roasted malt, Danish rye bread and an interesting and piquant light smoke note. Vague ashy edge. Dry but not overly bitter finish. Solid craftmanship. 120708

(Bottle 50 cl) Pours a hazy, warm amber golden with an off-white head. Fresh and very fruity aroma. Medium body with sweet yet fresh fruit and the usual solid hop profile from Hornbeer which is a bit atypical in a Belgian style ale. But quite fresh. 120708

(Bottle 50 cl) Hazy reddish amber colour with a dense, creamy, off-white head leaving laces. Lightly sweet caramel and fruit in the nose combined with spicy hops. Medium body, again caramel and fruit with a slightly ashy and spicy edge and again a distinct hop bitternes. Lacks a little refinement and purity in the hops to be truly great. 110708
