Description

Bottle. Darker golden, amber. Smaller offwhite head. Mild fruity nose, mostly peachy, but very gentle. Moderate bitterness, some sweetness. Dry finish. Lasting grassy aftertaste. Light body. Proper, a bit harsher IPA.

Bottle 33cl. @home poured into a tasting glass. Hazy medium amber colour, fair creamy off-white head, half-way lasting, good lacing. Aroma sweet malts, orange, orange jam, apricot, grassy hops. Taste medium sweet and bitter, malty, grainy, light orange, caramel, earthy notes, coarse impression. Medium body, oily texture, soft carbonation, lingering bittersweet aftertaste, very grainy and earthy, acceptable.

330ml bottle. Slightly cloudy, dark yellow-ish, golden colour with small to average, frothy, half-way lasting, minimally lacing, white head. Rather restricted, yeasty and minimally bready, malty aroma, hints of orange, Prosecco, yeasty spiciness. Taste is dry, yeasty fruity and yeasty spicy, hints of orange peel, dried apricot, a touch of Prosecco; neither cloying nor greasy, but long lasting finish. Slightly oily, watery texture, dry palate, fine, soft, mildly prickly carbonation. Dry, not overly flavourful, well hidden alcohol - OK.

Clear deep amber beer, decent bubbly tan head. Smooth palate, semi dry, the carbonation is pretty modest. Smooth and bitterish toffee tinged malts, a little malt cream. Touches of Sherry and Madeira. Finishes smooth and semi dry with some salty overripe fruits. Interesting! Hides the 14% with aplomb and has a decent array of flavours but they are not quite as harmonious as they could be. Ultimately comes over like a good example of a 1970s or 1980s strong beer survivor.
