Mountain Man Brewing is an independent brewing company producing beers for people who colour outside the lines.

Founded in late 2012 by Phil and Sue Cullen, Mountain Man Brewing was West Cork's first entry to the Irish craft beer scene. All our beers are vegan friendly and contain no artificial additives or preservatives.

Bottle from O’Brien’s, Athlone [260616]
Caramel brown, light haze, thin bubbly head
Aroma of soft sweet caramel, soft dark fruits
Taste of caramel malts, hint of chocolate, soft dark fruits, soft toffee, simple flavours
Palate - Soft carb, medium body, soft sweet. Finish of caramel malts, quite fruity
Overall - Comes across as a simple English brown malty bitter - I think this would be much better on cask

Bottle from McHughs. Murky orange with a thin head. Aroma is strawberry malt. Flavour is malt and strawberry, biscuit on a soft fruit finish.

Draught Small white head over cold-hazed golden beer. Very demure nose, some malts. Metallic bitterness, going over into rosewater and ureum. Harsh, unrefined. Astringency, light body for its ABV. Not to my liking, I’m afraid.

Bottle sample at a tasting at Tom L’s place. Thanks Tom L. Hazy yellow. Aroma of chalky/dusty malt, and some hops. Flavor has sweetish malt, a bit chalky, a bit of vegetal notes, graininess, and a bitterish and slightly hoppy finish. Light-bodied.

Bottle sample at a tasting at Tom L’s place. Thanks Tom L. Hay deep golden. Aroma of chalky malt, minerals and some floral/earthy/citric hops. Sweetish flavor with chalky malt, a bit of minerals, and a bitterish finish with some hops. Medium-bodied.

Draught at IBWF15. Ruby with a medium head. Aroma is fruity malt. Flavour is subtle malts, dark fruit, biscuit and cake, basically this is lovely.

Draught at the Headline. Deep orange with a thin head. Aroma is jammy orange. Flavour is sticky bitter, strong sour hop, sugary finish. Good luck I the finish.

Amber, clear, thin bubbly white head
Aroma of sweet pale caramel malts, touch of sweet honey, not that hoppy, mainly sweet malts, slightly buttery
Taste of caramel malts, some citrus hops, citrus zest, getting a slight buttery note and the fruits are a bit non-descript, more hoppy than the aroma, mainly fairly malty but overall quite good
Palate - Soft carb, medium body, bit oily, quite sweet, some bitter zest. Finish as main flavour, some zest, sweet malts, ok getting a bit of spicy hop in the finish
Overall - Not a bad beer, but I’m not sure what it’s trying to be - maybe I’ll pick up a bottle and compare
