Description

Interesting glass! Decent blonde, medium golden color with thin white head. Sweetish taste with mild astringent finish. Floral aroma, nice!

33cl Bottle: BBD Dec 2014. Poured (at home) into a Duvel glass during Jul 2013. Half way through the pour huge sediment pieces began to shoot out the bottle with the beer: once fully poured it looked awful and even after getting a sieve out to decant again it was obvious I’d end up with a mass of floating grist in my glass. A big disappointment as I’d had this bottle in my stash for awhile and was looking forward to it. Anyway the orange body was full of ’bits’ and even though I allowed it plenty of time to settle it refused to even consider the idea. The beer had a decent enough nose: yeast (obviously with it all in the glass), fruity and interesting. The taste was not as interesting or decent though: sweet and ’bitty’ is the best I can come up with. I’ve tried to score objectively, but I don’t really think this would have scored highly even if it had been clear, bright and less murky.

33 cl. bottle @ Hogerdijk tasting in Culemborg. Hazy golden with a big white head. Fruity yeasty aroma and taste. More complex aroma and deeper flavour than most other blonde Belgian ales so this is a good one.

33 cl. bottle @ home, gift from Bart and Evelien. Slighty hazy golden with a small white head. Spicy sweet aroma with orange and cloves. Light bittersweet taste with lots of caramel. Quite lively carbonation. Maybe its because of the oats but it kind of reminded me of the famous Tripel Karmeliet, although is bit lighter and less complex. Nice beer for sure.

Bottle. A clear one, dark golden in color and with a small, off-white head. The aroma is very fruity, lighlty orangey, and with a spiced touch. Some maltyness. The flavor has a solid dose of white sugar, with fruityness dominating. Some spiced notes blending in, and also a malty touch. Medium body, dry, and with some strange lumps of something showing up a couple of times. Pleasant bitterness and grassy, spiced hops in the finish. Quite pleasant though. 130430

Bottle. An unclear, golden beer topped by a dense, finger-thick off-white head. Typical Belgian blonde yeasty aroma, with fruityness, some white sugar, a touch of peppery hops and some tropical fruits. The flavor is a bit too malty and yeasty I think, some toffee notes chiming in, and also a little bitterness. Medium to full body, quite carbonated. Fruity and bitter finish with some yeasty hints. A decent one, easy drinkable. 130430
