Description
Winning innovator on the Belgian beer market with brands such as Maes, Cristal, Desperados, Grimbergen, Affligem, Strongbow and Mort Subite.

Maes Pils volgt in 1946.

I have heard of this one but never seen it in PA before. Sampled this one on draft at D’s Six Packs & Dogz in Pittsburgh. It poured a dark brown color with a medium sized tan head. The aroma was malty with a light fruit undertone and a lightly sour almost vinegary element. The flavor was huge with ripe fruits - almost raspberry - and sour dark malts. There is a hint of chocolate underneath. A sour tangy malty finish lingers. I really enjoyed this one.

(Bottle 25 cl) Golden beer with a small head. Very soft mouthfeel. Somewhat bread-like edge which feels disharmonious. Almost no bitterness. 240102

Dark golden, good creamy head, lace. Yeasty, lemony aroma with banana sweetness. Medium-bodied, crisp mouthfeel. Sweetish banana flavor. Nice well-balanced blonde, good malt profile. (7/3/8/4/15 3.7)
Re-rated, bottled [02/2007)
Darkish golden color, small white head, some lace. Fruity, sweetish aroma with malty lager-like notes. Sweet and fruity malty with metallic flavor in the finish. Slightly sugary and alcoholic bitter aftertaste. (6/3/6/3/12 3.0)

Bottled. Pale yellow, brief head. Foul compost heap aroma. Sweet and fruity with lots of decomposing vegetables and some unpleasant saccharine. Soem stale hops leads to an inky finish. An awful industrial lager.

Dark amber colour. Nice head. Somewhat sourish malt aroma. Mouth-filling sweet, malty flavour. The alcohol gives it warmth and bitterness.

(Bottle 25 cl) Pale golden with a small white head. Very decent and harmonious pilsener. Very soft mouth-feel and only a discreet bitterness. Very close to a Danish premium pilsener. 190498

Dark amber. Rich head, doesn’t last long though. Sweet and malty aroma, is there a hint of smoke? Malty flavour with notes of dried fruit. The bitterness comes late.

Golden colour, not much sediment. Huge, airy head. Citrus and yeast nose. Light fruity and yeast flavour. Alcohol- bitter finish. A decent Duvel-clone.

(Bottle 33 cl) Dark burned nougat-like colour, very bubbly head that bubbles away in no time - like in a sodapop. A touch of malt, but otherwise I can only taste the artificial saccharine sweetness. 230398
