Description
Winning innovator on the Belgian beer market with brands such as Maes, Cristal, Desperados, Grimbergen, Affligem, Strongbow and Mort Subite.

Maes Pils volgt in 1946.

Clean brown colour, with ruby shades, creamy head and beautiful lace. Some malt aroma, too light. A lot of caramel, brown sugar, some malt, a bit of peanuts and hazelnuts; cookies; rather dry and astringent. Strong, bitter and persistent palate. Only at the end some sweetness arises.

Golden color. More a 'blond' beer than a triple. Pretty easy to drink.......

Orange/golden, somewhat hazy colour. Huge head, doesn't stay too long, though. Yeasty aroma. Somewhat sweet palate. Spicy flavour with faint notes of peat or is it wood? The alcohol lurks in the background but never gets too dominant. I could drink this again!

Rerate: Orangepeel aroma. Golden, lowish head. Spicy, slightly candyish typical dry belgian golden ale yeast notes, full body, slightly sticky. Still, good balance and easy to drink. Old rating 15.7.2002 6 3 7 5 16 Golden with extremely high carbonation. a well-balanced seducingly light body without that sticky sweetnes other golden ales tend to have.

RerateFrom tap in Kafe Belgie very good double. Dark brown appearance, with lasting head. Spicy and malty aroma were much more present. Soft malty taste, spicy on the tongue. From tap it is definitely better than out of a bottle.Original rateNice double. Clear dark-brown color. Sweet (but definitely not sweeter than Grimbergen) and malty. A bit flaw.

Fruity aroma (peaches), a hint of ethanol and yeast in the flavor and smell. Not as sweet as others of the same style and quite refreshing.
