Founded in 2006 by husband and wife team Gabriel Gordon and Lena Perelman. In 2011 Beachwood teamed with Julian Shrago, a well-known Southern California home-brewer, to open Beachwood BBQ & Brewing in downtown Long Beach, CA. The new location features a full brewery, serving only the finest in craft beer with taps changing daily!

On tap at the brewpub. Pours with a crystal clear yellow-gold hue with a large and lasting white head. Great lace. Aromas are earthy, layered hop character, grassy, mild herbal. Nice bready, pils like malt aroma, some biscuity character. Relatively mild esters, dried fruit, pear, apricot. Low peppery phenols. Pretty clean otherwise. Flavors again show a layered hop character. Grassy, herbal, earthy, light lemon. Medium bitterness and a light hop heft left on the mouth in the mid palate. Bready and hoppy at first, phenols and esters through the finish with a bit of a grassy note. Pepper, light clove, dry fruit ester character. Somewhat restrained yeast note. Medium to lively bubbles (could use a touch more carbonation). Dry and crisp with a light body. Very tasty.

On tap at the source. Pours with a crystal clear golden-yellow hued body with a large and lasting white head that leaves good lace. Aromas are of hops: floral, pine, citrus, lightly dank, herbaceous and fresh. Light malt character in the background. Flavors are dry, medium bitter with a lightly bready malt backing. Grapefruit, citrus and resin hop notes with a dry hop grassy note. Some tropical fruit, herbaceous, and a touch green. Medium bubbles, dry and a relatively light body. Well done as always.

Draft. An amber beer with a lazing yellowish head. The aroma has notes of spices and cedar wood. The flavor is sweet with notes of malt, spices, and cedar wood, leading to a dry finish.

On tap. Clear amber with a yellowish off-white head. Fruity and dry and lightly spicy nose. Medium body, very dry and sophisticated fruit accents, again a dry spicy note - appears almost like cedar! - but I guess it’s all a hop job. Only a slight hint of sweetness appears in the finish.
