Bottle, courtesy of MrH. Brown colour, tan head. Nose is caramel malts, toffee, little toastiness, some citrus and grapefruits. Flavour is toffee, toasted malts, grapefruits. Slightly bitter finish.

cask at bow bar ...deep dark nice red ... soft sweet toffee hop ... dry fruits ... figs and plums... light berry fruit finish ... light dryness... soft toffee ... drybitter.... 3.4 bottle at home ... copper ... soft zezty big hop fruit nose ... soft dry hop ... big hop ... juicy fruits ... light zeztyness ... cant quite place all the flavours ... but this is so much more balanced than the cask ... really quite nice 3.9

Two tank sample 33cl bottles - thanks to Steven and Lewis. Pours a slightly murky brown with a thin layer of lace. The nose has earthiness (forest floor after rain), spice and nuts. The taste is more nuts, earthiness, root vegetables (somewhere between beetroot and parsnip) and just a hint of creamy coffee. The palate is medium to full bodied (bigger than normal ale), with a lovely thick texture and a lean drying finish which seems to not be too sweet or too bitter - very good. Overall, a really balanced and interesting beer. There’s a hint of a Scotch Ale with maybe a British Red Ale thrown in. MUST RE-RATE WHEN FINAL BOTTLES OR DRAUGHT IS AVAILABLE.
