Can split at the Autumn Watford tasting, thanks to LKS, 24/09/21. Light black with a tan head that soon escapes edgewards. Nose is chocolate, toffee, sweet malts, caramel, brown sugars. Taste comprises light chocolate, toffee, fruit slice, brown sugars. Medium plus bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close. Passable affair ... lacks depth for the hefty ABV.

[Cask at the Alehouse, Reading.] A murky chestnut coloured pour with a tight beige head; fresh leafy hop aroma; sweet caramel malt body with a hint of ginger; then more ginger adding spice and heat to the finish. Unexpected, but pleasantly warming.

Taster. Pitch black, large and lasting creamy beige head. Medium roasted nose, quite some coffee notes. A bit dusty with some chocolate way in the back. Milder sweet start, medium bitterness. SOme coffee presence with soury character. Lasting and gentle aftertaste. Lighter body.
