Description
Young Master Brewery was born out of a desire to brew distinctive, world-class beers locally for Hong Kong. With this project, our goal is to revive the craft brewing tradition in Hong Kong and bring the local drinking experience up a notch. Our beers are brewed fresh with the highest quality ingredients. We insist on preserving everything that’s good and natural about freshly brewed beer. To this end, we do not filter, pasteurize, or add artificial stabilizers or chemicals to our products simply to extend their shelf-life. We also use naturally produced carbon dioxide during fermentation and do not artificially carbonate. Our beer will be the freshest you can find in Hong Kong with the least distance traveled from grain to your glass.

On tap at the Roundhouse, HK. Smooth and fresh beginning. Round and smooth with a nice rye-like earthy flavour. Moderate bitterness in a nice grainy and fresh earthy body. Not much wood here. Mild and smooth yeasty aftertaste, round, not too sweetish, nice.

Tap at Roundhouse - thought I'd rated this already. Dark almost opaque iron rust-colored pour. Aroma is very malty with a bit of fruity hops. Taste is very bitter with some fruit flavor hops - peach and mango. Very malty too to balance. Lasting bitterness with a little boozy warmth. Not bad at all but a bit muddled. Updated Feb 2022 after countless tastings. Surprised I was so harsh in 2015. This is the original HK DIPA, and I appreciate its more west coast-leanings. While the recipe has changed over the years, it remains very very solid. I think it’s gotten less malty and metallic and a bit more tropical in its hop profile but I could be wrong. Always good. Raised 3.6–>3.8

Tap at Roundhouse. Dark hazy brown pour - like a coke float. Aroma is Christmas - cloves and cinnamon, etc - more than beer. Taste is similarly heavy on the spice. Too much for me. Not bad just doesn't appeal to me. Had it lots in bottles during winter 2017/18 - changed my mind. Really good interpretation of Christmas. Smooth palate, cinnamon and clove but not too much. Slightly sticky with lingering roasted malt and winter spice - braised orange peel, cinnamon, clove. Very good. Raised from 3.0 (I think) to 3.7.

medium golden color. Light frothy white head. Biscuity nose with moderate hop character. Light body, fairly hoppy though can’t identify the hops so well. Well balanced. Nice bitterness. Pleasent pale ale.

Tap at Blackstar. Deep amber brown pour. Spicy malty aroma. Taste is similar - doesn't taste like an old fashioned but does have similar spicy, sweet, and woody characteristics. Very smooth with fine carbonation. Not a bad beer.

Tap at Roundhouse. Golden pour limited head. Aroma of white whine (sauvin hops?). Taste is crisp with bitter and sharp white wine finish. Not bad.
