Foggy golden body, huge head in a chalice. Aroma of fruity sweetness like a kriek, and hops. Taste begins incredibly fruity like a sweet lager and finishes with a hoppy bite. Quite unique, like a cross between a fruity Kriek and a hoppy tripel; and it kind of works.

"Specialty Grain" stuff always gets me interested - it could be an amazing mix of flavours never before seen in a beer, or it could be some awful dumpster garbage that people pass as "artisanal" and thus deserves to be revered as you’re trying not to vomit! Thus, the challenge is to find the middle ground, and as of yet, we need to ask if Bioloo deserves any accolades. Pours very nice with murky orange and a big head. Aroma has heavy lemon accents, slight malt and syrupy sugar notes. Taste is an interesting mix of hops and a kind of barley grain with a huge perfumy alcohol aftertaste. Plenty of lingering alcohol and hops on the tongue, with a few soft malt hints, and it’s got a decent complexity. Yet, it’s hard to tell what the "specialty" grain is: it just has plenty of different regular flavours showing up at unique times.

Bottled (from beerplanet.be). Amber colour, mediumsized off-white to beige head that leaves some lace. Aroma is slight bready malts, some grains, mild wheaty notes as well as some spices. Flavour is being quite much the same. Hides the alcohol very well.

Bottled (from beerplanet.eu). Deep ambery brown colour, small off-white head .Aroma is toffee, caramel, spices, mild alcohol, an some wooden and dusty notes. Flavour is quite much the same (as for the ones taking it sweet), with some mild leathery notes. One of the darkest tripels I’ve seen actually...

Clear amber color, good cloudy off-white head. Aroma is woody-grainy (spelt) and hayish hoppy. Bioloo is a bit alcoholic, mouthfeel quite watery for this ABV. Flavor is perfumic, dry fruityness, a bit yeasty with grainy maltyness. A ok.

This beer was here written as "Luppo" (after 48 raters) but for logical reasons I changed it to "Luppoo" as we have "Belgoo", "Arboo" and "Bioloo" and this word with double o is printed to the label (even their website says "Luppo"!). Golden color, small white head. Herbal hoppy, spicey and a bit yeasty aroma. Medium bodied. Flavor is very similar to aroma: herbal hoppy bitterness, some wood and grains, kind of peppery finish. A bit one-dimensional brew with hard mouthfeel but not many flaws either.

bottle - Pours hazy yellow with a huge, fizzy head. This one was a gusher. Be careful opening your bottle. It smells of yeast and citrus leaning toward lemon to be more specific. It’s sweet, yeasty, and rather bland. There’s some mild bitterness but it’s supplied by stale tasting hops. Very unimpressive.

bottle - Pours hazy orange-yellow with a big, off-white head. It has a yeasty, malt rich aroma. The flavor is sweet with banana and spice notes and the carbonation is lively on the palate. It’s alright but there’s some underwhelming about it as far as Belgian brews go.

Marks are for the dry-hopped version. Marks for the regular version in brackets [N] below Very good yellow head over clear golden beer. Both versions near identical [3]. Vegetable and specifically peanuts/arachide nose, fatty acids [5]; no more arachide (or as good as...) in the dry-hopped nose. Sweet, less yeasty or peanuts flavour than the nose, seems better integrated, but indeed a lot of restsugars, to the point of suspecting white candi sugar [6]; much less sweet; not that the hops give real bitterness, but they camouflage, annihilate the sugary sweetness. Bit slick, restsweetness keep clinging [3]; slightly burning MF, medium bodied at best. Not bad, but a serious tad too much restsugars [12]; the dry-hopped version beats the regular one hands down.
