Bottled at Akkurat, Stockholm. Cloudy golden, rich fluffy head. Evident perfumy coriander aroma. Sweet, slim and fruity, soft and mouthfilling despite it’s fairly light body. There’s orange peels and bubble gums under the coriander. Finishes with a touch of some orange brandy. Like a bigger, but still drinkable, witbier.

Test vom 17.3.2008, Gebinde: Glasflasche Noten: 12,11,10,12,-,11 - 11,10

Zythos 08. Standard Belgian golden beer. Belgian yeast and rose petal fruit on aroma. Fine, but pretty standard.

Bottled. Hazy golden color, medium white head. Aroma of grassy hops, bit citrus, some yeast, buttery. Slight sweet and spicy taste, again some citrus and yeast. Nice balance though. Not bad.

33 cL bottle. Pours hazy yellow to orange with a white head. Aroma is complex wheaty/spelt grainy with a very pronounced note of orange peel and a mild yet distinct spice note, underlying is a very classic Belgian yeasty note. Flavour is rather complex and following the same lines as the aroma. Orange peel and coriander take a step forward in a medium sweet fruity beer. Ends with a lingering wheat and spelt flavour with a little remaining orange peel note. Lovely!

Small off-white head over pale ochre-orange beer. Vegetable & deepfried dumplings nose, as batter-surrounded vegetable matter, deep fried. Slightly sweet taste, as well as (cooked) vegetable, DMS. A bit fiery MF, but soon the beer falls flat. I was told this was brewed at a new location (then why the La Binchoise address on the bottle?). Anyway, it needs quite some work. Additional info from the brewer: brewed by the own brewer at the site at La Binchoise, but independantly. Similar to the Struise Brouwers/ Deca situation.

Very clear, old-golden coloured beer; snowwhite, good head, dense. End of bottle solidly clinging yeast. Alcoholic nose, a bit of greenery, as fresh parsley. Neutral main taste, white candi sugar and alcohol, giving it a discreet sweetness. Not empty, but light all the same; slick. Very dull beer, uninspired.

Don’t shoot the rater, but, seen the double oo is circled on the bottle, I think it refers to the international indication on airplanes, Belgium being OO Fast gone, dense white head, shards of lace over fully hazy pale lemon-yellow beer. Overpowering coriandernose, with false orange/citrus notes, and a bit of hazelnut oil(?). Fruity, false-lemony taste from the coriander overdose. God, what ails these people? Wheatslickness, light to medium bodied. Another cartoon-like repeat performance of a Hoegaarden. I am informed this beer is NOT a definitive version, just an experimental version. As this might mean extensive change, the beer will have to be retried and rerated.
