Bottle. Black with a tan gulliver that’s soon a coat but never disappears. Aroma is roasty and a lomtick ashy with rum, fudge and orange peel. Very silky but perhaps a malenky lighter-bodied than expected. Alcohol is hidden. Low carbonation. Some interesting smoky/ spicy/ indian sweetmeats join firm roast and chocolate before bitterness that creeps up to fairly high comes along. There’s a odd pithy note at the end that i didn’t love. Interesting, different. Droogies, i would have liked less orange

Bottle from Craftissimo at home. Solid black pour with medium puffy tan head. Aroma is rich dark chocolate with citrus peel bitterness (probably more noticeable because of the name) quite sharp but in a good way. Taste is big but not huge - dark chocolate orange like from a chocolate box. Subtle but definitely there. Nice. Lasting boozy warmth. Smooth medium rich palate. Very solid imperial stout.

500 ml bottle into tulip glass, best before 4/2018. Pours hazy pale golden/straw color with a 2 finger foamy and fluffy white head with good retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Nice dense foamy lacing clings on the glass, with a good amount of streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Aromas of lightly tart lemon, lime, pear, apple, white grape, coriander, pepper, sea salt, wheat, biscuit, herbal, floral, grass, and yeast earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance and complexity of fruity/earthy yeast, spices, salt water, and moderate pale malt notes; with solid strength. Taste of lightly tart lemon, lime, pear, apple, white grape, coriander, pepper, sea salt, wheat, biscuit, herbal, floral, grass, and yeast earthiness. Good amount of yeast/pepper spiciness and slight tartness on the finish; with lingering notes of lemon, lime, pear, apple, white grape, coriander, pepper, sea salt, wheat, biscuit, herbal, floral, grass, and yeast earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Very nice complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/earthy yeast, spices, salt water, and moderate pale malt flavors; with a nice malt/spiciness balance; and no astringent flavors after the finish. High carbonation and light-medium bodied; with a very smooth, crisp, dry, prickly, foamy, fairly grainy/bready/sticky, and lightly saline mouthfeel that is good. Zero warming alcohol as expected of 4.5%; some light building heat from the peppers on the finish, never becoming overwhelming. Overall this is a very good saison/gose style. All around good complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/earthy yeast, spices, salt water, and moderate pale malt flavors; very smooth, crisp, and pretty easy to drink; a little rough from carbonation. Not as tart as I expected, but well balanced on flavors. This tasted more like a salty saison that a real gose; but was still very enjoyable.

(Bottle) Pours clear deep brown with red highlights, and a huge thick beige head. Lovely aroma: mainly citrus, pine hints, chocolate notes. Nice palate: medium body with creamy soft but plentiful carbonation. Taste is a little bit of a disappointment. It’s dominated by some rather burnt roast malt flavours. Over this there is some pleasant refreshing zesty orange and some chocolately hints. There’s bitterness in the finish and a tiny hint of chili burn there too. Unusual, interesting, but the taste seems to have a bit too much burnt bitterness.

Small bubbly shortlasting head, slightly hazy. Aroma is fresh sour-ish, soda powder, citrus peel, fruit salt, sorrel, fresh pepper corn, sap, coriander, salt, minerals. Taste is slightly dry sour-ish mineraly, grass, fruit salt, soda powder, citrus, paper, minerals, coriander, sap, light malts, pepper corn, leafs. Medium bitterness, slightly watery mouthfeel, soft carbonation. Fair enough, nice aroma.

Australia Day Beer #8. 330ml can into pint glass. Smells a bit ’Euro-lager’ initially but soon clears to a light citric note. Cloudy yellow beer with a thin horizon of lacing. High carbonation. Refreshing, cleansing, easy to drink. Only a hint of lime and the salt is very, very late in arriving. Nice beer but a pale shadow of ’Freshie’.

There are aromas of coffee, salt and sarsaparilla, and similar flavours, plus some apricot and grapefruit. I'm not sure that a coffee gose is really the way to go.

(Bottle) Pours clear golden with big white head. Excellent tangy fruity aroma - citrus with hints if stone fruit. Light body, excellent mouth filling carbonation. The taste is all about the hops, but without them being overwhelming. The start is citrusy, then the hop flavours start to develop steadily with plenty of pleasant bitterness at the end. Nice beer.

Taster at Beer Deluxe Barangaroo. Rose-coloured like pink champagne. Thin film on top. Light carbonation. Slight hop nose. Sour and yeasty, real yeasty! Clears my sinuses! Then the sweet fruit appears at the end. Long finish has yeast, sweet and sour. Excellent.

Bottled at Reggina del Formaggio, shared with heavy (thanks!). Poured an almost clear ruby body. Lovely pungent aroma, dry figs, light cherry, heavy maltiness really. Woody, dry taste, figs again, cherries, dry maltiness, nicely and lean. Chewy cherry cand y touches, dry bitterish finish that balances things out. Wow, this is a superbly executed beer, even more impressive after you read the ingredients list. Great job guys!
