Description
In 1838 the Meisl brothers bought the Feldschlößchen mansion and estate near Dresden and began the construction of a lager brewery. In 1858 they founded the ‘Aktienbrauerei zum Feldschlößchen’. At the start of the 1960s the three Dresden breweries: Feldschlößchen, Felsenkeller and Waldschlößchen formed the state-owned company VEB Dresdner Brauereien. In 1979 the VE Drinks Combine for the Dresden District was formed which also included the new Dresden-Coschütz Brewery. After reunification in 1990 there was a reorganization and the founding of the Sächsischen Brau-Union (SBU). In 1992 the Holsten-Brauerei AG acquired the SBU which was renamed the Feldschlößchen Aktiengesellschaft Dresden in 1995. In 2004 Carlsberg acquired the majority of shares of Holsten. Since 2011 the Feldschlößchen brewery is back in eastern German hands when Carlsberg sold the brewery to TCB Beverages, a medium-sized brewery group,

Plastic bottle sample at a tasting. Thanks zvikar. Clear golden. Grainy aroma with faint hoppiness. Sweet grainy flavor with some pale malt, a bit of bread and some bitter hoppiness in the finish. Light-bodied. Drinkable.

At a tasting, thanks Zvikar, non existent head, clear pale yellow colour, aroma of honey and distinct perfumey notes, nice herby bitterness with honey drops sweetness, quite balanced though just a touch too sweet. Not bad at all.

On draught in a beer garden accross from the Dynamo Dresden football stadium surrounded by a cheery bunch of football supporters, although some have very dodgy and possibly illegal political views. Nice golde colour with a fully white head. Very refreshing on a warm spring day

draught, also available at the Schillergarten in Dresden-Blasewitz. Hazy deep golden colour, almost with an orange glow. Large white head, intensive fruity-yeasty nose. Full-bodied with a solid malty background, pleasantly fruity with a yeasty character and a touch of lemon grass. Shy hop flavours are present, also with a citrusy and resiny touch. Delicious and moreish.

19/03 0.5 l plastic bottle. It poured golden body with small head. Weak aroma, malty. Sweet biscuit malt and bitter citrus hop, along with sourish corn made its flavor. Thin to medium body with medium bitterish dry finish. A bit boring, but probably the best one we’ll be trying from plastic bottles brought from Germany.

Bottled@Monks Cafe, Stockholm. Deep ambery brown colour with small off-white head. Aroma is bready and caramel malts along with mild roast, coffee, chocolate and some ashes. Flavour is quite identical but also has some sweet burnt sugary notes. Rather pleasant.

plastic bottle 500ml. -Courtesy of and shared with Doggythedog/heavy who brought it from Berlin (thanks!)
Pale golden coloured, small white head, notes of corn in the nose. Slight malty, lemony hoppy and grainy with bready-cornish notes. Bitter finish, strong carbonation. Could be worse.
