Description
In 1838 the Meisl brothers bought the Feldschlößchen mansion and estate near Dresden and began the construction of a lager brewery. In 1858 they founded the ‘Aktienbrauerei zum Feldschlößchen’. At the start of the 1960s the three Dresden breweries: Feldschlößchen, Felsenkeller and Waldschlößchen formed the state-owned company VEB Dresdner Brauereien. In 1979 the VE Drinks Combine for the Dresden District was formed which also included the new Dresden-Coschütz Brewery. After reunification in 1990 there was a reorganization and the founding of the Sächsischen Brau-Union (SBU). In 1992 the Holsten-Brauerei AG acquired the SBU which was renamed the Feldschlößchen Aktiengesellschaft Dresden in 1995. In 2004 Carlsberg acquired the majority of shares of Holsten. Since 2011 the Feldschlößchen brewery is back in eastern German hands when Carlsberg sold the brewery to TCB Beverages, a medium-sized brewery group,

Imperial pint can. Pours clear gold with a medium-sized white head. Aroma is malt, bread, spicy hop. Taste is slightly dry. Medium bitter finish. It was cheap and it was a whole pint, hard to fault it.

An English pint can. I wonder why. Made in Germany. Clear gold with a decent white frothy head. Pale malt, bread, light pea hop, metal, grass. Medium dry. Light to medium ending hop bitterness. A budget Hell But still a Hell. Acceptable for that money.

Barwa ciemno miedziana, klarowne, piana jasno beżowa, dość obfita, drobna i dość trwała.
Kontra chmielowa znikoma.
Goryczka do niskiej, nieco brakuje, wysycenie ciut za wysokie, ciało lekko wodniste.
Ma pewne niedociągnięcia.

0.5l bottle from the Prager Strasse Rewe in Dresden. Clear golden body, white head. Herbal and gooseberry notes. Dryish, sweetish taste, bitter herbal notes, bit hoppy, some lychee, vague maltiness, lasting bitterness. Meh, okay.

Tap at the Stammhaus. Shinier amber body, maybe bit hazy, off-white head. Bit metallic caramelly aroma, some dried fruit. Smooth taste, pleasantly grainy, quite metallic, nice body... Hooh.. shame about the metallic notes, it has potential.

Bottle. Clear dark gold with almost no or let’s say an extremely short-lived white head. Aroma of metal, honey and grains. Taste of malts, honey, grains, minerals and alcohol. Spicy and boozy. Moderate to strong grainy bitterness. Medium carbonation. Feels somewhat cheap. There sure is nothing subtle about this one.
