A surprisingly good weizen, full bodied, hits the bubblegum notes spot on. More like an american wheat with 30% german influence. Tap 27 Chisinau

For the style it’s pretty good actually. Not over bittered, good flavour just not body forward enough. Smokehouse chisinau

Bottle sample at a tasting at troubles' place. Thanks rayaron & zvsn. Cloudy red-amber. Cassis, wine, funk, oak, cobwebs, tart and a bit sweetish, a bit of vinegar, a bit of caramel, a bit of alcohol. Very nice.

75cl bottle @ monthly tasting, Chez Sophie, Jan 19. Many thanks Simon for bringing this back from Budapest. Pours murky hazy deep red, off white ring atop. Cherry coke, grape, sherbet, marzipan nose. Taste presents deep kriek, a definite malbec red wine influence, soft tannic element. Interesting.

28th Jan 2019; Shrewsbury Beer Exchange Group meeting in Chez Sophie. 75cl cork and caged bottle, cheers Simon for my first Moldavian rate. Red hue to the brown body, wispy head. Nice blend of cherries and red wine in both the aroma and taste (no beer like attributes like yeast, hops or maltiness). Semi-sour and interesting.

Cloudy bright orange, sticky off-white head. The smell is big fresh citrus, oranges, mandarin oranges, both pulp and zest. The underlying sugars add a hint of lollipop to it. No aniseed detected, maybe just a hint of rosemary/spruce. The taste is quite a bit of a departure - very little malt sugars, some oranges, some pith and strong lingering rosemary/spruce bitterness. Very well integrated.

JAN-2020. Really cloudy amber, not murky though, sticky off-white head. Smells of citrus crush - thick and fruity yet not sweet, both slightly stale and fresh, with quite a lot of citrus peel oils and spruce / rosemary resins. Similar taste - really rich chewy unsweet citrus, lots of oils and resins, sharp bitterness with notes of rosemary and that old style citrus peel / dry leaves hops. Almost no proper malț sugars and no bready / doughy or any other yeast related offs. Yep, yummy and crushable, but also quite brutal and the bitterness is harsh. Hope the fruit stays fresh for longer than a few days.
28-DEC-2018. Draft at Craft Baza. Hazy medium dull amber, creamy light beige head. The aroma is still full of oranges and tangerine peels, but it has taken a sweeter lollipop like cheap note +though it is not that strong. The same lollipop notes are the in the flavour as you start to sip, though the strong dry pithy bitterness drown them really soon. Still nice, though the candyish notes certainly do no good to this beer. 6-4-6-4-14=3,4.
21-DEC-2018. Draft at Craft Baza, PET growler at home. Murky amber, small head. Smells like a fresh peeled off tangerine orange - no more no less. Maybe a slight hint of crystal sugar in the background. Taste is light orange / grapefruit juice, boatloads of pithy bitterness and zest oils. It might seem a little over the board fruity at times, but the lingering citrus bitterness forgives everything. Very... Easy going. Well done. 7-4-7-4-15=3,7.

Beers of the World country 115: Moldova 🇲🇩
"The beer is hazy dark red with no foam at all. It smells like the red wine barrells it has been stored on for 6 months. The taste is sour and fruity with lots of cherry. The finish is slightly short and on the boozy side. Might be a good beer if you like kriek style beers, but not for me." - beersoftheworldproject.wordpress.com
