Als onafhankelijke familiebrouwerij genieten we al sinds 1825 van onze vrijheid. De vrijheid om onze eigen koers te varen en alleen te doen wat goed voelt. De vrijheid om de smaak van bier niet af te vlakken, maar te verrijken en continu te zoeken naar vernieuwende smaken. Die vrijheid ervaren wij al 8 generaties en dat proef je terug in onze 16 speciaalbieren. We hebben een sterke band met onze omgeving en zijn graag van waarde voor de wereld om ons heen. Daarom brouwen we bier met water uit eigen bronnen, gebruiken we hop uit eigen hoptuin en komt onze gerst van boeren uit de regio. Dit alles houdt onze ‘voetafdruk’ laag en maakt Gulpener tegelijkertijd tot het enige echte bier van Nederlands bodem.

Onze hop komt ook uit de regio. In Reijmerstok, een dorpje op steenworpafstand van de brouwerij, verbouwt familie Wouters volledig milieuvriendelijk drie hopsoorten die onmisbaar zijn voor onze bieren. Het oogsten van de prachtige hopbellen is elk jaar weer een bijzonder moment. Samen met familie en vrienden van de brouwerij oogsten we dan niet alleen onze hop, de basis van onze karaktervolle bieren, we vieren ook het feit dat we vrij zijn. Vrij om onze eigen koers te varen en alleen te doen wat goed voelt.

Bottle at home. Aroma of grainy malt, hay, some bread, grassy notes, bittering hops. Flavour is light sweet with a long moderate to medium bitter finish. Body is medium. A very refined and flavourful bitter Pilsener, enjoyable.

Bottiglia. Il gusto al naso viene attratto dal luppolo. La finezza olfattiva è normale e il modo in cui permane è sufficiente. Il manto birroso superiore è caratterizzato da una schiuma dalla buona tenuta. La grandezza delle bollicine è medio-fine, con carbonazione abbondante. Il liquido offre una visione offuscata. Il colore è giallo dorato. Il corpo è rotondo. L'amaro è pronunciato. La forza gustativa è normale e si prolunga in modo sufficiente. Le sensazioni boccali finali risultano di pronta beva. Il retrogusto è di media intensità. L'aroma in bocca porta i segni di miele, frutta secca e agrumi.

Bottiglia. Il gusto al naso resta attratto dal fruttato. L'intensità olfattiva è elevata e la maniera in cui permane è sufficiente. Il mantello birroso superiore è caratterizzato da una schiuma che resiste abbastanza. La grandezza delle bollicine è medio-fine. Il liquido è di aspetto velato. Il colore è giallo dorato. Il corpo è pieno. L'amaro è pronunciato. La forza gustativa è normale e la permanenza è sufficiente. Le sensazioni boccali finali risultano luppolate. Il retrogusto è di decente intensità. In bocca l'aroma è quello di miele, pane cotto di recente, luppolo, un accenno di resinoso, agrumi, frutta secca, pompelmo e ananas.

Bottiglia. Il gusto al naso propende per il fruttato. L'olfatto viene stimolato in maniera normale, permanendo in maniera sufficiente. Il cappello di schiuma ha una buona tenuta. La grandezza delle bollicine è medio-fine. Il liquido appare velato. Il colore è giallo dorato. Il corpo è pieno. L'amaro è di media potenza e c'è anche una componente leggermente acidula. La forza gustativa è normale e permane in maniera sufficiente. Il gusto è piacevole. Le sensazioni boccali finali risultano di pronta beva. Il retrogusto è di decente intensità. Il tetto della bocca riconosce impressioni di miele, frutta secca, pane cotto di recente, agrumi, arancia amara e banana.

[as Gulpener Ur-Hop IPA] Bottiglia. Il naso riconosce indizi di fruttato. La finezza olfattiva è normale e l'esistenza olfattiva è sufficiente. Il manto birroso superiore resiste abbastanza. La grandezza delle bollicine è medio-fine. Il liquido appare limpido. Il colore è giallo dorato brillante. Il corpo è pieno. L'amaro è intenso. La forza gustativa è elevata e si prolunga in modo sufficiente. Le sensazioni boccali finali risultano luppolate. Il retrogusto è di decente intensità. Al palato prevalgono impressioni di miele, crosta di pane, frutta secca, luppolo, resina, pino, agrumi, pompelmo e ananas.

From bottle at Bier Xperience Steenwijk 2016. Aroma is mainly grainy malt, straw, with a welcome grassy hoppy finish. Flavour is lightly sweetish and moderate bitter. Body is medium. High abv is not very noticeable, nicely grainy and grassy hoppy Imperial Pilsener.

Bottle at home. Aroma is wheaty malt, caramel, plum, dried fruits, raisins, touch of liquorice, nuts, and a hint of clove. Flavour is sweet and a bit sticky, not too boozy at all, alcohol is surprisingly well-hidden. Body is above medium. Bit like a WeizenEisBock. Nice one.

Bottle from Speciaalbierpakket. Aroma is floral, sweet malt, soft fruits, apples, notes of bubblegum, cleaning products and some yeast. Flavour is a bit cloying sweetness and light bitter. Body is medium. Yikes, not good at all, way too sweet with an overdone floral aroma that leans towards chemical cleaning products.
