Sampled at the brewery pours a dark black with a ring of khaki head. Flavor has coffee and caramel, vanilla too, licorice. Flavor is huge char, burnt toast and burnt coffee bean, French roast, the vanilla and sugar is way less on the flavor. Full bodied, oily, off dry finish. 8 4 7 3 13

Pint at the brewery pours a clear dark orange with some lacey white. Nose has soggy bread and black tea, butterscotch. Flavor is alright, true to style, butterscotch and biscuit, honey in black tea, some metal. Finishes off dry, lightly bitter. 7 4 7 3 13

6oz sample is a light yellow, a little haze, tight white head. Nose has some paint and green peppercorn, opened had and had a lot of DuPont, herbal notes. Flavor has grains and starch and honey, lots of esters though, banana and clove and chewed bubblegum. Finishes estery, a touch sweet. 6 3 6 3 12

6oz sample at the brewery pours an opaque black, some clingy beige head. Nose has malt and licorice and molasses, something foreign about it, almost reads like a Caribbean stout or a foreign extra. Raisins. Flavor clearly has licorice and some foreign spice, felt like cardamom, weird foreign chocolate, malt. Finishes full bodied, dry, spritzy. Odd. Would have pegged this as a foreign export stout. 7 5 7 4 13

6oz sample, clear gold, sticky white head. Nose has grist, some grain, some dough, lemon, a touch cheap. Flavor is starchy, reads more rice as the adjunct, straw, lemon. Finishes starchy. Just OK. 6 4 6 3 11

6oz pour is a mostly clear gold, very creamy white head. Nose has a lot of citrus that pops out of the glass, lime mostly, some melon, honey, flowers. Flavor has some honey and grist, melon, orange, pineapple, there is an undercurrent of booze. Full bodied, fruity, boozy finish. Tropicals almost take it to tripel territory. 7 3 7 3 12
