Draft at The Mitten, Grand Rapids. Deep opaque brown body with orange highlights, medium creamy beige head. Bitter, roasty nose with vanilla bean. Light roasty body, a tad woody, with vanilla bean and a moderate acidic bite. Not bad.

Draft at Mitten Brewing, Grand Rapids. Deep brown/garnet body, medium clumping cream head. Nose of butterscotch, oak, and muddy coffee. Harsh body with butterscotch, ash, and oak, the butterscotch notes in particular lingering and devastating the palate. Also burnt coffee and scorched caramel. Lacks depth. Blech.
