Bottle. Spicy nose, clove. Orange yellow, low head. Citrus, orangepeel, banana, a bit spice (clove, anise). Medium to light body, light sparkly. Gets mealy after a bit.

Re-rate from bottle: This time around I feel the body as a bit more solid,chewy and malty and the hop balance is quite nice. Still a bit too quick on the finish though. Old rating: 5 3 4 2 10 Bottle. Sweet, light herbal nose. Golden green, low lace. Light body, straw malt, light grassy herbal counter. Soapy finish. Quick grassy finish, light herbs retronasal. Swedish indeed...

previously tested on German BTO 11/2006: Sehr malzig, nur leicht hopfig, typisches süddeutsches Pils, aber deutlich über dem geschmacklichen Durchschnitt. Sehr süffig und würzig, lang haltbarer Schaum. Die Flasche hat leider einen dieser neumodischen Pull-Verschlüsse, sieht sonst aber gut aus.

previously tested on BTO 11/2006: "Die Spezialität für den Winter", so steht es auf dem sehr hübschen Etikett geschrieben. Knuffige 0,33l-Flsche, dazu passt der Name. Darauf eine Figur in historischem Gewand, eine Fahne schwingend, auf der da geschrieben steht: Schwarzbräu. Im Hintergrund eine verschneite Landschaft mit Burg und Wald, jede Menge Schneeflocken in der Luft. Nicht in der Luft, sondern im Glas zeigt sich das Bier von seiner besten Seite, goldgelb mit schneeweißer Krone. Leicht säuerlicher Antrunk und Mitelteil, insgesamt malzig und würzig, im Nachgeschmack hopfig.

previously tested on German BTO 12/2006: Goldgelb, viel Schaum. Getreidiger Duft. Im Antrunk an ein Export erinnernd, wird es zur Mitte hin aber deutlich hopfiger. Es wirkt kraftvoll und würzig, Hopfen und Malz sind so ausbalanciert, dass beide ständig präsent sind, erinnert mich an ein 13° Speciál von Opat aus Tschechien. Der Nachgeschmack ist ziemlich herb. Tolles Bier!

(bottle) Clear, golden colour with a big and dense but not very persistent foamy white head. Sweetish grainy and slightly papery nose with faint notes of herbal hops. Moderately sweet flavour, medium to light bodied with a medium carbonation. Malty, slightly papery taste with shy herbal notes; sweetish malty finish with a very light bitterness (02.05.07).

Bottle ( kindly delivered by Joss !): Solid malty-grainy nose with a touch of aromatic hops in the background; golden coloured, lazy carbonation, lacy white head; moderate to solid sweet-bitter flavour, light to medium bodied; becomes a bit hoppier towards the sweet pale malty finish. Good, well quaffable Helles..............

(bottle) Slightly hazy, golden colour with a medium-sized foamy white head. Sweet, slightly papery malty, light biscuity and faint fruity (citrus) nose. Sweet flavour with a light bitter edge, quite slim bodied with a soft and calm mouthfeel. Malt-accented taste with distinctive notes of marzipan and very subtle hints of fruitiness; moderately sweet and slightly bitter finish with a light hops character showing up at the very end (09.04.08).
