Hopworks was founded in 2007 by our Brewmaster, Christian Ettinger. He started brewing in his parent’s kitchen during his first summer break in college and it didn’t take long to decide he would open his own brewpub.
With locally-sourced, organic and Salmon-Safe hops, our 20-barrel brewery produces 10,000 barrels of beer per year for our two brewpubs, airport brewpub, and for distribution throughout Cascadia and beyond. From composting to salvaged materials, and pervious pavers to hand dryers, we’ve made every effort to protect our planet with thoughtful alternatives to the status quo.

Can from Timberline at PDX Airport. Fruity hoppy aroma with grapefruit, tropical fruits, citrus, and light biscuity malt. Flavour is light to moderate sweet and medium bitter. Body is medium. Solid, basic IPA, enjoyable.

Part of a Beer52 UK box coming in at 6.2%. While all tangerines are mandarins, not all mandarins are tangerines I learned from Google, none the wiser. Semi-hazed dark-gold with thin white head. Aroma of sweet orange, earthy malt, hint of spicy hop. Taste of mandarin, being somewhat sweet with a slight tartness. The malt is notable but somewhat undefined - maybe cereal and bread crust. There is some bitterness from the hops but little in the way of flavour - grapefruit and light spice possibly. Medium bodied, drying Its a pleasant enough undercooked flavoured pale but modern IPA it is not.

Can from Total Wine in Vacaville, CA. Pours gold with a large creamy white head. Aroma is pleasing citrus/pine. Med body. Flavor is citrus/pine with a touch of resin. Dry and nicely bitter. Old school. Excellent.

Can from Total Wine in Vacaville, CA. Pours clear mahogany with a large frothy tan head. Maybe beige. Aroma has pie spice with a touch of chili. Arguably med body. Flavor is pie spice, some slightly roasty malt and some chili. Nice combo. Tastier than many pie spice things.
