Super dark brown coloured body with a thick, four centimetre tall slightly soapy light brown head - nice and odd looking at the same time. Aroma of grass, yeast, wheat, flowers (hence the name), lemons, curacao, coriander seed and a bunch of roasted malt. Medium-bodied; Assertive spicey flavour with pungent lavender and violet noticeable, a little coriander seed, some lemon and orange peel and a lot of roasted malt flavours. Aftertaste is where it gets really complex, odd and flavourful - from pungent spices to some alcohol, malt, yeast, chocolate, hay, flowers and even chalk shows up here - strong, but nice and different. Overall, a dark saison that shows a lot of complexity and some interesting flavour profiles that you don’t get often. I can’t say that it works perfectly, but it is very nice to try, especially back here on the East. I sampled this 75 cL bottle purchased from Made in Oregon (PDX Airport, Terminal D Location) in Portland, Oregon on 28-April-2013 for US$11.95 sampled at home in Washington on 18-July-2013.

Capped 750 from Made in Oregon. Pours translucent gold with a white head. Aroma is light fruit and herbs. Med body or better. Flavor is quite tart - goes herby. Acidity! Actually rather citrus. Reminds of Berliner Weisse.

Tap at the Commons, PDX, 26/05/13. Opaque dark chestnut brown with a thin white head that dissipates edgeward. Nose carries herbal notes, toffee, light sugars, soured pineapple, touch of hops. Taste comprises bitter orange, tarte apricot, dark malts, sugars, bready. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, dryish finish. Decent fruity Belgian offering with a dose of hoppage.

Bottle shared by somebody at Mikey’s, thanks. Pours a cloudy orange/copper color with a large white head. A sweet nose of oranges and pils malt. The flavor is more Pils malt, earthy, floral hops, some light biscuit, spices. Mellow. Nice and clean.

Capped 750 from Made in Oregon. Pours hazy orange with a creamy off-white head. Nice fresh brett odor. (brett? fresh? well, yeah) With fruit. Med body or better. Flavor seems to be brett, light pitted fruit, spicy. It’s earthy. Extremely tasty.

Capped 750 from Made in Oregon. Pours rather dishwater gold with a 4+ finger foamy/creamy white head. Which did a bit of ringing. Aroma through all the foam hints at earthy citrus sour. Full bodied - tho the carbonation likely accounts for much of that. Flavor is wheaty?, citrus, earthy near funky. Damn this is pretty tasty ale. The back parts of my mouth have stood to attention. The rye spice aspects are particularly, to me, unusual in a saison. Finishing earthy/spicy/dry. Just excellent.
