On tap at Griffin Claw, pours a clear pale blonde with a small white head. Aroma brings out a nice dank hop character, with gentle pine, and a crisp biscuity malt backbone. Flavour follows nicely, with an assertive dank hop character upfront without being brutal. Crisp and bold. Excellent no-nonsense west coast style IPA.

On tap at Griffin Claw, pours a deep dark brown / near-black with a reddish tinge and a small beige head. Aroma brings out plenty of coconut and vanilla upfront, with lactose underneath. Flavour is pretty similar, with a rather awkward combo of coconut, vanilla and lactose. The cohesion isn't great, as the adjuncts don't seem to blend all that well. It's okay.

Had somewhere in Austin, TX. Poured a lightly hazed golden-amber colour with an off-white head, leaving creamy full lacing. Grassy and fruity malts for aromas. Hoppy taste with a decent blend of grass, citrus and fruity base. Mouthfeel is dry and bitter, but not to the maximum. An easy-drinking IPA that is well-balanced.

Bottle split at L6 at the Tipple's had tasting, picked up from BD online, 17/04/19. Hazed reddish amber with a decent light beige cap that retains well. Nose is bitter orange, light hop spice, grapefruit, pine needle, straw. Taste comprises red grapefruit, pine needle, caramel, citric tinged straw, candied orange peel. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close spiked with lightly aggressive hop bitterness. Decent.

Can split at L6, thanks to Frog, 27/06/19. Lightly hazed golden yellow with a decent off white cap. Nose is bitter citric shreds, melon, toasted grains, hint of plastic. Taste comprises sweet malts, tangerine, melon, grass, citric tinged straw. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close spiked with light grassy hop bitterness. Pretty average stuff.

Quadrupel from a Michigan brewery, from a can with different picture than the Marshall depicted above, but I assume it's the same beer. Egg-white, mousy, regularly shaped, thick and fluffy head on a hazy copper red-hued burgundy brown beer. Aroma of caramel sauce, sugared tomato sauce, soggy biscuit, minerals, cranberry jam, dried figs, quince compote, red bell pepper soup, sauced tobacco, ripe peach. Sweet onset, candi sugary with some fruity aspects of fig and raisin, hint of Turkish delight, very light 'bouillon'-like umami side note, medium fizz, soft caramelly and bready maltiness with a lingering honeyish sweetness on top; a sweet tomato-like accent stretches over the middle. Herbal, warming finish with nutmeg- and clove-like phenolic impressions, remaining soft in bitterness (certainly for an American craft beer), all tied together by rum-like alcohol and lingering sweetness. Not a bad beer per se, but a bit thinnish and umami-forward for the intended style while lacking in yeasty fruitiness; typical interpretation of the old Low Countries' quad style I'd say, in other words: decent for a strong brown U.S. ale, but not really a quad at all.

Can from Holiday Market shared at Prodigal Son share. Pours a deep brown to light black with a finger of beige head that dissipates. Big coffee forward nose with roasted malt aromas. Thin on the palate with an overly roasty malt and espresso profile. Overly bitter and roasty. Very thin. Finish is quick with not much else going on.

Can from BrewDog online store Roasty brown ale, not as yummy as I was expecting but still high class. Tasty.
