Dark golden amber color. Big heavy malt character with cracker, citrus and apples in the nose. Very clean malty mouth, but decent hop character to back things up and a fair amount of bitterness hitting the back of the throat. Full body. A bit boozy. Nice stuff.

22 ounce bottle into tulip glass; 2016 vintage bottled in 11/2016. Pours slightly hazy/cloudy reddish orange/copper color with a 1-2 finger fairly dense light khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a moderate amount of streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Aromas of big cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg, cardamom, clove, peppercorn, orange peel, honey, caramel, brown sugar, toasted bread, bourbon, and oak, with lighter notes of vanilla, coconut, toffee, and herbal/oak/toasted earthiness. Very nice aromas with good balance and complexity of spices, dark/bready malt, and moderate bourbon barrel notes; with great strength. Taste of big cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg, cardamom, clove, peppercorn, orange peel, honey, caramel, brown sugar, toasted bread, bourbon, and oak, with lighter notes of vanilla, coconut, toffee, and herbal/oak/toasted earthiness. Light-moderate herbal/spice bitterness and oak tannin on the finish; with lingering notes of cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg, cardamom, clove, peppercorn, orange peel, honey, caramel, brown sugar, toasted bread, bourbon, oak, and herbal/toasted earthiness on the finish for a while. Very nice complexity, robustness, and balance of spices, dark/bready malt, and moderate bourbon barrel flavors; with a great malt/bitter/spiciness balance, and zero cloying/astringent flavors after the finish. Light dryness from bitter/spiciness, increasing through the glass. Medium carbonation and medium-plus body; with a very smooth, moderately creamy/bready/sticky, and lightly tannic balanced mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden, minimal warmth lingering after the finish; with zero barrel booziness. Overall this is a very nice barrel aged spiced imperial amber ale. All around nice complexity, robustness, and balance of spices, dark/bready malt, and moderate bourbon barrel flavors; very smooth and dangerously easy to drink for the big ABV. This is strong but not overwhelming on spices now fresh, which overpowers some of the barrel complexity; but you still do get a nice malt/barrel presence in the background. Would love to age another to see it mellowed out. A very enjoyable offering.

Bottle at RBWG Grand Tasting. Pours a cloudy orange with no head. The aroma is candy sugar and yeast. Medium body, raisin, yeast, pure sugar, boozy finish, very good.

Can shared at the Aug. 2016 Monticello Dairy Bottle Share, 8/1/16. Hazy pale golden, large foamy off-white head, good retention. Aroma of pale doughy malt, mild hops. The taste is pale doughy malt, mild herbal hops. Thin-medium bodied, mild lingering bitterness.

Clear golden coloured body with a nice, two centimetre tall tan head. Aroma of light grassy and slightly herbal hops with a note of light malt and very little. Light-bodied; Strong grassy and resinous hops with a lot of bitterness and alpha acids, but hardly any malt body, just a touch of lemon on the end as well. Aftertaste shows some subdued fresh cut grass, herb and piney finishes, but this is fairly mild as well - goes down very easy. Overall, a very nice and fragrant, but super-easy-to-drink beer with a lot of dry hopping for scents, but the body is great - super mild and subdued. A very nice Light IPA and definitely one to try, should you like the style and can grab it! I sampled this twelve ounce can purchased from Merchant’s in Dearborn, Michigan on 24-July-2015 for US$1,39 sampled at home in Washington when the counting of the votes of the State of Michigan was going on during Election Day 2016 on 08-November-2016.

Murky, ugly shade of brown-amber. Dank and sticky. Not bad, but not one I need to try again.

Bottle shared at au revoir tokyo at Gremlin. Thanks Gregg! Big honey dominated nose with sweet malt and light floral notes. Feels lighter than it should be on the palate and easy to drink. Purchased at Siciliano's Market in Grand Rapids, MI; enjoyed at home on a Sunday while watching football while recovering from a run. Appearance is cloudy gold with a rich white head. Aroma is like a malty IPA. Taste is just ok, not a great IPA, not really sessionable.

Refrigerated brown bomber extra from FlandersNed poured into a snifter. Hazy dark orange with small off-white head. Aroma is ripe pumpkin, medium body, lower carbonation, and little lacing. Taste is ripe pumpkin, oak, spice (nutmeg, some ginger, and cinnamon), some bourbon, and hints of vanilla. Heavy beer, might want to share this one.
