Description
Von Ebert is owned and operated by Tom Cook, Dennis January, Eric Simko and Tom S. Cook. Tom S Cook, “Von Ebert Brewing was named after my Great Grandmother Ebert. She was the guiding force to my immigrant family when they came over from Germany to the United States in the early 1900’s. The family name Von Ebert translates to “of the house of Ebert. As Ebert roughly translates to boar in German our theme was born.”

Our trident approach to brewing encompasses what we love most about craft beer. We focus on clean drinking lagers, traditional and experimental hoppy ales, and our mixed culture fermentation program. Each of our breweries has a unique focus. Glendoveer houses our mixed culture and more experimental fermentation, while the Pearl hits heavy with IPAs and German inspired lagers. Between the two breweries we are consistently churning out new and exciting beers, be sure to stop in often to see what’s new!

Pour is a clear copper with a large tan head. Aroma is a decent enough toasted grain. Flavor is more toasted grain with a sweet finish. A decent Modelo Negra clone.

Pour is a light clear blonde with a large tan head. Aroma is some neutral malt and some corn as well. Flavor is an Uber light malt and not much else after that. Really watery.

On tap at Von Ebert, pours a clear amber with a small white head. Aroma has plenty of red berry-like coffee, earthiness, and bready malt. Flavour is much the same, with that berry-like coffee character and a bready malt base. Perfectly serviceable, but not particularly interesting. Fine.

On tap at Von Ebert, pours a hazy dull orange with a small white head. Aroma is pretty muddled, with plenty of muddled berry pith, muddled oats, maybe some floral hops buried underneath. Flavour is very muddled, with lots of pithy stone fruit, gentle hopburn, not much actual hop flavour. Muddled and incoherent. Not for me.

On tap at Von Ebert, pours a clear blonde with a small white head. Aroma has very soft orange character upfront, with some gentle cereal malt to hold it together. Flavour is citrusy, with gentle orange, additional more lemony citrus, and a biscuity malt base. Clean, citrusy, simple lager. It’s fine.

On tap at Von Ebert, pours a clear blonde with a small white head. Aroma is fairly dank, with pot-like hops, but not really terpene-like, and a dry biscuity malt base. Flavour is not that pot-like: definitely dank hops in there, but the terpenes come across more like some bubblegumy berry character. I guess if you’re going to do a terpene WCIPA, this is okay, but I’d prefer this without the terpene extract. Decent.

On tap at Von Ebert, pours a clear blonde with a small white head. Aroma reveals spicy hops, fuzzy stone fruit zest, and some allium. Flavour has a very floral and lemony hop expression—almost perfumey—with bone dry fuzzy stone fruit skins and a dry bready malt base. Very perfumey, floral hop finish. Good but not my preferred hop expression.

On tap at Von Ebert, pours a clear blonde with a small white head. Nose is dominated by the Riwaka, with a wonderful gooseberry tang, some grassy hops, and crisp biscuity malt. Flavour is super bright, with vibrant Riwaka stealing the show: so much gooseberry and white wine tang. Bright, bitter finish, with long lingering Riwaka. Lovely.

On tap at Von Ebert. Pours a murky dull yellow with a white head. Tropical fruit juice on the nose. Flavour has a murky fruit juice character, some yeast; very little distinct hop character. Not a fan.
