Description
Urban Artifact is Ohio’s home for sour beer; located in the historic St. Patrick’s church in Cincinnati. With a special emphasis on fruit beers, they have created a niche with their signature overfruited Midwest Fruit Tart style focusing on balance, drinkability, and real fruit. Brewing a bevy of different sour beers, from the standard German style gose, to the exotic spontaneously fermented barrel aged sour with a wide variety of different fruits, there is sure to be something new and exciting to explore. We are currently on pace to use over 400,000 lbs of real fruit this year alone!
Our Northside, Cincinnati taproom is open seven days a week, with food service provided by Wildfire Pizza Kitchen. We host live music five nights a week at the Radio Artifact Live stage, and make the historic church sanctuary, The Reliquary, available for receptions and events.
Radio Artifact, the Urban Artifact hosted independent music radio, can be listened to on 91.7FM HD2 in Cincinnati or live streaming online at radioartifact.com

12 ounce can into tulip glass, canned on 8/28/2019. Pours very hazy/cloudy deep golden/orange/amber color with a 1 finger fairly dense and fluffy of white head with solid retention, that reduces to a minimal spotty lace cap that lingers. Minimal spotty lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of big juicy/sour/tart/tangy nectarines, apricot, peach, fruit skin/pits, lemon, lime, orange, pear, melon, red/green apple, white grape/wine, hay, straw, grass, wheat, cracker, white bread dough, lighter peppercorn/lacto funk, and yeast earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of nectarines, fruity/acidic yeast, and pale/wheat malt notes; with big strength. Taste of huge juicy/sour/tart/tangy nectarines, apricot, peach, fruit skin/pits, lemon, lime, orange, pear, melon, red/green apple, white grape/wine, hay, straw, grass, wheat, cracker, white bread dough, lighter peppercorn/lacto funk, and yeast earthiness. Light-moderate fruity/lactic tart/sourness, fruit tang, and light spiciness on the finish. Lingering notes of tart/tangy nectarines, apricot, peach, fruit skin/pits, lemon, lime, orange, pear, melon, red/green apple, white grape/wine, hay, straw, grass, wheat, cracker, white bread dough, lighter peppercorn/lacto funk, and yeast earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Fantastic complexity, robustness, and balance of nectarines, fruity/acidic yeast, and pale/wheat malt flavors; with a fantastic malt/tart/sourness and tangy fruit balance; with no puckering/astringent flavors after the finish. Fairly crisp/clean finishing. Light-moderate increasing dryness from lingering sour/tart/tangy and carbonation. Medium-plus carbonation and medium body; with a very smooth, moderately creamy/grainy, and fairly acidic/tangy/tannic balanced mouthfeel that is fantastic. Zero warming alcohol for 7.9%. Overall this is a fantastic fruited kettle sour. All around fantastic complexity, robustness, and balance of nectarines, fruity/acidic yeast, and pale/wheat malt flavors; very smooth, refreshing, and fairly crisp/clean to drink with the mellowly acidic/tangy/tannic/drying finish. Nicely soft and not overly lactic. Fantastic balance of super juicy/jammy fruit and Lacto complexity; with a great pale/wheat malt backbone against acidity. Mild residual sweetness with crisp acidic/tangy dryness. A highly enjoyable offering, and outstanding style example as expected. Love the whole Midwest fruit tart series.

Can from explosivedog: pours pinkish orange with a small head. Aroma is loads of guava... not sure if I can get much banana. Taste is lightly sour, with loads of guava. Sole beer backbone but this is a real fruit bomb.

Sampled from the tap at Beer Grotto A2. Pours a clear purple with a near white head that dissipates quickly to the edges. Aroma is full of rich berries with a nice tartness and a light funk. Flavor is full of dark berries with a light yogurt and a hint of funk.

12 oz. Aroma has notes of banana, a mango-esque note that I guess is mangosteen, Brett, kiwi, guava, wet stone. Pours murky yellowish-orange with an immediately collapsing off white head. Looks a bit like a banana orange smoothie. Taste is moderately sour (3/5) with tropical fruit flavors, alcohol noticeable but it’s not boozy. Tasty beer that looks like crap.

12 oz can from Tavour, 11/9/19. Purple-reddish, beige head. Sweet, fruity aroma. Blackberry more prominent then the vanilla for me. Somehow it is reminiscent of a Dr. Brown's Black Cherry. Wasn't expecting that from a beer. A little too sweet, but pretty tasty. Unique. 8/4/7/4/15
