Description
The Columbus Brewing Company was originally founded in 1830. In 1988, the name was once again chosen to resurrect the proud brewing heritage of its namesake.
Our Brewmaster brings years of experience to the brewery including an apprenticeship with a German-trained Brewmaster, completed the Master Brewers progam at U.C. Davis, and brewing at several breweries throughout North America.
We are dedicated to exploring the flavors of American hops, subtleties of German-style lagers, the intensity of barrel-aged beers & everything in between.

Shaker pint draft at the brewpub in Columbus, Ohio. The pour is a haze orange amber, with a half inch off white head. The aroma is fresh citrus, softly sweet floral, and a light pine hoppiness. The taste is the citrus, the pine, and a nice toasted malt. All flavors nicely blended and vibrant. There is a touch of sweetness and resin near the back. The palate is medium bodied, nice active carbonation, and a dry mineral finish. Nice IPA, this was the first beer of a session and it hit the spot.

Shaker pint draft at brewery pub in Columbus, Ohio. The pour is a lightly hazed golden copper with a smallish white head. The aroma is straw, cracker grain, and a light lemon citrus. The taste is the cracker malt up front, with an edge of the straw, than a bit of lemon, and some malty dirtiness towards the back. The palate is medium bodied, a nice un filtered mouth feel, proper carbonation, and a slight lingering dry mineral earth in finish. As it warmed the finish cleaned up nicely. They did a nice job with this, often times these "lighter beers" are brewed half ass to serve the masses. Overall, quite tasty helles.

On draught at the North Market Fiery Foods Festival on 02/18/2012. The beer is a slightly cloudy dark amber color with a medium beige head that lasts awhile. Partial rings of lacing on the glass. Aroma of citrus and peppers. Medium body with flavors of citrusy hops and moderately spicy jalapeno, with a bit of malt in the background. The finish is malty with some heat remaining. Above average overall.

From the bottom of the keg on tap at vintage estate. Big IPA aroma. Looks like pale lager and not hazy as described. Creamy big head. Yes, big citrus ipa flavor. Flat, no co2. Flavor is fresh ipa impact. If you are into IPA, ignore my numbers, this stuff is terribly on style.

On tap at Pizza Port Carlsbad (no idea how they get these beers). Pours with a near black body with a massive tan head. Aromas are of chocolate, caramel, mild fruity notes and a ton of hops. Flavors are roasty, toasty, leather, licorice, hoppy, fruity and anise. Medium to fuller bodied, spirited carbonation and a dry, bitter and a touch roasty finish.
