Description
The Columbus Brewing Company was originally founded in 1830. In 1988, the name was once again chosen to resurrect the proud brewing heritage of its namesake.
Our Brewmaster brings years of experience to the brewery including an apprenticeship with a German-trained Brewmaster, completed the Master Brewers progam at U.C. Davis, and brewing at several breweries throughout North America.
We are dedicated to exploring the flavors of American hops, subtleties of German-style lagers, the intensity of barrel-aged beers & everything in between.

On draught at Bodega during the release party. This beer pours brownish-black with a medium light beige head that diminishes steadily to a film. Rings of lacing on the glass. Aroma of roasted malt and piney hops, along with a citrus touch. Rich body with flavors of spruce, citrusy hops and chocolate malt. The finish is resiny hops with a lingering dark malt aftertaste. Good beer all around.

12 ounce bottle from Whole Foods Market Columbus/Dublin. Pours a clear dark amber color with a thin fizzy head that fades almost immediately to nothing. Aroma of nuts, grain, caramel and an almost coffee-like note. The taste is grain, some smokiness, caramel and a slightly metallic hop finish. Thin bodied. High carbonation. Decent effort but it falls flat.

Sample from growler at Ale Wine & Spirits in Powell on 09/09/2011. This is the September Hop Odyssey beer. Pours a deep clear copper-amber color with a medium beige head that recedes slowly. Rings of lacing on the glass. Hoppy aroma that has notes of citrus and malt behind it. Medium body with flavors of grapefruity hops and sweet caramel malt, plus a bit of pine in the background. The finish is toasty malt at first and leaves a lingering citrusy hops aftertaste. Above average overall.
