Sample at the CBC tasting/Pee Wee’s Big Adventure event at Studio 35. The beer is a clear yellow-gold color with a medium thin and foamy white head that dissipates steadily. Thin rings of lacing. Mild hops, fruit and spice in the nose. Light body with flavors of lightly peppery spice, fruity hops, yeast and a touch of barnyard funk. The finish is fruity with a short yeast aftertaste. Decent overall.

On draught at the brewpub. The beer is a mostly clear dark amber-brown color with a medium foamy beige head that recedes slowly. Jagged patches of lacing on the glass. Aroma of candied oranges, malt and hops. Medium body with flavors of citrus, burnt sugar, malt and hops. The finish is soft and fruity with a mild hops aftertaste. Overall this beer isn’t quite up to par with the rest of the beers thus far in the Hop Odyssey, but it is a decent brews.

On draught at Bodega after going to CBC and learning it was gone. Released in conjunction with the Arnold Sports Festival, this brew is a mostly clear orange color with a thin and densely foamed light beige head that recedes slowly to an outer ring. Large patches of lacing on the glass. Citrusy hops aroma with some malty notes. Medium body with flavors of hops, citrus and sweet tropical fruits as well as some malt. The finish is hoppy with a lingering citrus aftertaste. Pretty good overall.

On draught at the brewpub, served in a chalice. The beer is a hazy bright yellow-orange color with a medium thin and foamy off-white head that recedes steadily. Strings and spots of lacing on the glass. Aroma of citrusy hops and malt. Medium body with flavors of hops and grapefruit, plus some sweet malt in the background. The finish is hoppy with a lingering bitterness left behind. I would have picked this as a IIPA 10 out of 10 times, easily one of the most hoppy Barley Wines I have tried. Style interpretation aside though it is a good beer.

Sample from a growler at the "From Russia With Suds" tasting on 01/02/10: Pours almost black with dark brown around the edges and a thin and dense tan head that dissipates slowly. Thin rings of lacing on the glass. Roasty malt aroma with Centennial hops as well. Medium body with a moderately bitter hops character and flavors of toasted malt, dark chocolate and some citrus. The finish is hoppy with a lingering bitterness left behind. Pretty solid all around.

Sample at the North Market Microbrew Festival on 09/12/2009. The beer is a brownish-black color with a medium tan head that dissipates steadily. Thick rings of lacing on the glass. The aroma is almost all coffee, plus a bit of malt. Rich and smooth body with a strong roasted coffee flavor and notes of chocolate malt and hops. The finish is roasty with a moderately bitter coffee aftertaste. I enjoyed this one overall.

Sample at the North Market Microbrew Festival on 09/12/2009. The beer is a hazy orange-amber color with a medium off-white head that recedes steadily. Stringy lacing on the glass. Aroma of citrusy hops and malt. Medium body with a moderately hoppy character and notes of pine, citrus and malt. The finish is hoppy with a lingering bitterness left over. Straightforward and drinkable IIPA overall.

Bottle Pours out a cloudy straw topped with a foam white head. Aroma of light lemon zest and some sour notes. Taste a little of the citrus along with a little wheat.

Bottle pours a hazy dingy pale yellow Spicy sweet lemony aroma. Slightly skunky lemony light grain flavor. Very high carbonation and a soft wheaty after taste with a surprisingly bitter trailer.

Bottle Pours out a copper orange topped with a white head. Aroma lots of floral hops and a nice rich malt. Tast was more of the floral and a little bitter citrus. A pretty tast IPA.
