Taste is slightly dry sour-ish roasted, weeds, sour-ish roasted grain, toast, salty licorice, rye bread, soil, bark, minerals, hay, burnt coffee. Medium bitterness, slightly dry sour-ish roasted mouthfeel. Fair enough, nice aroma...

16oz can doesn't pour black, it pours a rootbeer brown with lots of frothy mocha head. Nose is traditional, malt, tootsie roll, caramel, light roast, some cream soda, very very bready. Flavor follows, pumpernickel and rye breads, caramel, cream soda, tootsie roll. Finishes off dry, malty. Very old school. I liked it, but this is a stout from 10 years ago, not the typical cloying stouts of 2018/19.
