While it is thought the Chinese sipped the first beer in 7000 BC, Mesopotamia is where craft beer got its roots. The ancient Sumerians viewed their brew as a daily necessity and considered it a gift from the gods to promote joy and health. The unresolved argument remains today…what came first, the beer or the bread?
Brewers were typically female and highly regarded in early Mesopotamia. In fact, Ninkasi, goddess of beer, was not only the beer itself, she was also the boss brewer of the gods. Her responsibility was to supply the good drink to the temples and sacred sites. Her recipe evolved into medicinal potions, religious sacrifices, and a nutritious dietary staple for all classes of society.

Draught @ the source. Cloudy rich yellow with large foamy off-white head, faint citrus aroma, high carbonation, slightly flat wheat taste, thin body, abrupt finish. Not bad, not spectacular either.

Draught @ the source. Cloudy pale yellow with foamy whitish head, faint malt aroma, high carbonation, lightly bitter malt taste, thin body, dry finish. Quite passable pilsner

Draught @ the source. Hazy copper red with small foamy whitish head, faint malt aroma, medium carbonation, very little caramel taste with malt abundance, thin body, abrupt finish. Quite a few of their beers have very similar taste patterns and are difficult to distinguish.

Dark Wheat Beer from Torch Brewery

Draught @ the source. Clear dark amber/copper red with large creamy beige head, faint roasted malt aroma, low carbonation, fruity caramelized malt taste, thin body, abrupt finish. Nice but nothing special.

Draught @ the sopurce. Faintly cloudy reddish brown with small foamy off-white head, faint woodsy aroma, low carbonation, caramel taste with lightly bitter roasted malt flavor, thin body, medium roasted malt finish. Aside from the carbonation problem, the brew is not bad.

Draught @ the source. Hazy dark orange with small foamy off-white head, no identifiable aroma, low carbonation, faint smoked taste, thin watery body, abrupt finish. Good try but the delivery is not as promised I’m afraid.
