Draught at Cooper’s Ales. Dark brown. Aroma of caramel, earth, licorice, strange funky fruit. Smokey caramel flavor with dried fruit. Light sweetness, a bit funky and edgy—rather earthy. Interesting and good.

Draught at Wachi. Pretty deep orange color. Nice head. Malty aroma with a bit of honey and caramel. Sweet, luscious malty flavor. Rich and deep, with slight honey and peaches. Very low hop aroma and flavor, bit a slight bitterness at the end. Heavy, smooth body with low carbonation and perfect mouthfeel. This beer shows some lovely, tasty malts, but it desperately needs more hopping—either noble or American, it needs more hop aroma and flavor to balance.

Draught at Q-Brick. Clean wit-like yeasty spicyness with full wheat flavor and a crisp bitter finish. Not sweet; no strange spicing. Great stuff. Good cross between a Belgian Wit and an American Wheat Ale.

Draught at Beer Belly. Deep, rich, golden color with huge yeast cloudiness. Thick head going to lace. Beautiful! Aromas of orange, creamsicle, grass, Belgian yeast. Warm wheat flavor, with citrus, tropical fruit, pineapple. Manages to be bready as well. Spicy, lemony, with orange. Wow! great, clean, bitterness at the finish. Rich and smooth. Absolutely wonderful, with perfect balance and huge complexity. Daisen G can do wheat!

Draught at the GJBF 2009. Same base as their European Dark Lager, plus 3% roasted malts, and using Chimay’s yeast strain. Doesn’t taste very Belgian, more like a dunkel weizen, although there is no wheat it in. Weird, spicy, a little funky. Don’t know if I really like it. Estery, wheaty without wheat. Interesting and dry, almost champagne-like, with chocolate, caramel, banana. All right.

Draught at 2010 Best Beer Selection, Osaka. Pretty, glowing, light yellow color with lace. Spicy, fruity aroma with rice and sake notes. Sweet, grainy flavor, with lemon, banana, estery, complex, and interesting, with a good bitter finish Very drinkable.

Draught at Golden Garden in Hiroshima. Sweet but not cloying, with rich wheat malt. Quite estery, with no sour edge at all. Very drinkable and rich. Nicely done.

Bottle, 1 month over its date. Jet black with a frothy tan head. Chocolate, sweet, slightly fruity aroma, sweet, chocolate flavor, with burnt wood and coffee. A bit fruity as well. Nice balance, not overly complex. Nothing wrong with it either. Enjoyable.
