Description
Fort George Brewery + Public House sits on the original settlement site of Fort Astoria, founded in 1811. The oldest US settlement west of the Rockies, Fort Astoria was the Pacific Fur Company's primary trading post in the Northwest. Fort George opened its doors to Astoria as both a brewery and a public house, and that desire to serve the community continues to this day. The brewers and pub staff here share a common goal, to create a welcoming space where anyone in town can pull up a stool and enjoy a pint and a bite to eat. We take pride in our house-made offerings and our hospitality, and we’re always looking for improvements that bring us one step closer to perfection. It’s a goal Sisyphus could appreciate, even if he doesn’t have as much fun pushing that rock as we do rolling those kegs. And that’s why we like to call Fort George beer the best beer you’ve had today. Tomorrow it will only be better.

2025. Figgy, dates. Med brown. Rich bourbon I’m, vanilla. Holy shit this is complex, rich. Deep fruits, vanilla, lots of wood, light rye, there malt is complex but almost lighter than it was on the nose.

Deep gold, slight haze. Thin bubbly head. Good bitterness, clean. The foeder introduces just that touch of tannin. Good bitterness. Excellent balance for a TIPA to come across this drinkable and balanced.

Gold, bright. Slight woodsy and orangey hop note. Sweet malt, has again that woodsy citrus, and well-balanced.

Dark brown, medium head. Medium body, chocolatey, thinnish, though, lacks the richness.

Clear gold colour with white head. Piney and hoppy aroma. Hoppy and malt bread and biscuit flavour, rather full. Hoppy finish.

Hazy orange body with white head. Light citrus, lemon and orange aroma. Citrus taste, not overwhelming hoppy with a malt swirl. Pleasant hop swirl finish

On tap at Chuck’s Seward Park, pours black with a small tan head. Aroma reveals dry roast, some earthiness, and a touch of black liquorice. Flavour is on the hoppy and bitter side, with some black liquorice faintly perceptible, light cocoa, and earthiness. Doesn’t really strike me as a stout, let alone a well-brewed beer. It’s alright—pretty disappointing or Fort George.

On tap at Chuck’s CD, pours black with a small beige head. Aroma brings out lots of caramel, toasted malt, and some sugars. Flavour is full of sugary caramel, salt, and thick maltiness. Too much salted caramel and sugars. Ruins the base.
