Bomber courtesy of a friend. Thanks! Pours a hazy orange color with a thin fizzy head. Poor head retention. Aroma of sweet berries, slight earthy notes and a faint tartness. The taste is berries, berry life savers, mild earthy funk. Medium bodied.

From Binny’s singles rack, June 2012. $1.50. Sweet caramel smell from the first pour. Black color, but with brown highlights and a frothy tan head. I get a slightly piny hop nose when I stop admiring the glass and pick it up. Taste has thick dark malts, but no harsh roast to it. Some hoppiness evident, but the malts actually keep it hidden, except for a residual bitterness at the front of my palate. I thought there should be more to it, but it is just a session-strength beer.

Cask at Great British Beer Festival 2012, Olympia, London. An amber coloured pour with a small white head on top. Aroma of old socks and dustbins, quite horrible. Tastes hoppy, citrus, grapefruit and this musty thing going on which may be due to the dreadful aroma. Not very well balanced.

12oz bottle pours dark brown with thin tan head. The aroma offers up some citrus hops and then a bit of pine hoppiness, dark roasted malts and malt balls. The taste has a pretty solid level of hoppiness that runs from brief citrus to pine and then to a decent level of floral hop bitterness. Behind these notes is a mix of a pleasing dank and spicy hoppiness as well as dark roasted malts. I’m liking this pretty well.

Bottle from QFC - Seattle (Ballard)
Beautiful dark amber color, hazy, with small head. Tere is some caramel aroma, but it’s too simple. The caramel flavor is quite good, a bit chewy; the hopping is medium strong, some fruity character (apricot) and mild resins.
Simple.

Hazy amber color, with creamy head. Mild manure aroma at first, followed by some malt and caramel. Lean mouthfeel, a bit oily, with good caramel flavor, but without vibe; strong hopping, carrying some chewy resin and not much fruitiness; long final.
Powerful but not much elegant.

12oz amber-tan color. Respectable off-white head..steady. While there is some faint resinous hop aroma, its pretty tame for a double or triple anything. Very grounded in malt, a decent Amber I suppose, but just not that hoppy. Balanced, yet apparent big American-style ingredient overload. The rye shows up in the finish, stealing the show. Not bad by any means, just a little more subdued and bland than I was hoping it would be.

Bottle: Cloudy bronze color with no head. Aroma is a fresh strawberries and wheat; rather refreshing. Tastes like... well, it’s not good. A sour wheat and dry dandelion thing going on here. Fruitness is gone. Lingering finsh is dry and sticky. Crap.

Draught (nitro) @ Hawthorne Hophouse. Rated on 11.07.2012
Aroma is sweet with fruits, peaches and honey. Flavour is hoppy with resin and some peaches. This has some hops that linger in my mouth for a long time and they do not feel nice.
