Nutty toffee malt, tin, and fresh hay aroma. Copper with small head. Moderately sweet berry and nutty toffee malt, and moderately bitter fresh hay and quinine flavor. Good body. Just got this in a beer of the month box - just in time since they just went out of business.

From a can Deep reddish amber with a small sandy head. Was surprised I had not had this before. Probably my last chance. Woody resinous hop aroma and flavors along with a toasted malt character. Definitely feels like a big beer. Strong up front flavors and a bit of a punch.

Tap at The Great Northern Hotel, Melbourne. Poured a hazy reddish amber with a frothy white head. The aroma is malt, red berry fruits, yeast, dry hop. The flavour is moderate sweet light bitter with a smooth dry malt, fruity, dry, light floral hop bitter palate. Medium bodied with soft carbonation.

12 oz bottle into a La Chouffe stemmed tulip glass at my daughters in California on 3rd Jan 2017. Red body, slight haze, beige head of uneven foaming bubbles. Malty nose and taste profile, some rye flavours and esters too. Taste also has plenty of hop bitterness battling with semi-sweet maltiness. Nice winter time brew.

Pour is a deep copper orange with medium white head. Sweet citrus aroma. Medium syrupy body. Flavor is malty with sweet citrus and some toasted bread. Finish has lingering malt with the bitterness on the side of the tongue. Decent.

Loads of biscuit, breadcrumbs, caramel and alcohol, plus a little apricot and grapefruit aroma. The taste is quite hoppy, with more biscuit and caramel. The alcohol makes it positively warm the throat, but the finish is marred by a metallic astringency. A shame, because it’s otherwise a lot of fun.

Keg at the brewpub, PDX, 09/11/14. Clear rich amber with a moderate off white covering that soon dissipates to a swirl. Nose is toffee, dark malts, sugars, spice, caramel. Taste comprises much the same, pretty one trick pony. Medium body, fine carbonation, semi drying close with lghtly warming alcohol. Ok, but for style and ABV not a lot doing, lacks depth and complexity.
