Bottle pour. Pours a really dark red with a malty aroma, with a little booze, and some nice hops to it as well. Sweet caramel flavor. Alcohol pretty obvious. Nice, slightly bitter hop flavor finish here. Decent beer here. Really like the various hop flavors throughout this one. Will drink again for sure.

Bottle from QClub at home. Translucent copper pour with thin foamy head. Aroma is very nutty (almost like toast) with a slight bit of spicy hops. Taste is similarly very deep and nutty, followed by earthy hops (English?) bitterness. Almost a bit tart. Not bad but probably wouldn't get again.

Poured various times in a mug, a pint glass and currently having in tulip; it pours an amber/slightly reddish colored body with a slim half finger of a white foamy head that dies and leaves barely any lacing, body is dark red; aroma is dry roasted malts and not really hoppy whatsoever; taste is pretty malty as well; somewhat easy on the palate but not that much to be honest; overall, well, its an imperial red ale so with a high ABV that’s trying to display an \"American Red/Amber Ale\" hey why not, not bad, but nothing mind blowing

From a 355ml bottle on 19/12/2013. Pours a very reddy amber with the barest of heads. The aroma is primarily toffee and caramel malt. These also feature prominently in the flavour followed by a huge, lingering, dry, almost medicinal bitterness. Has a fullish body and medium carbonation. This is a big distinctive beer but lacks a bit of balance, with the bitterness just a little too harsh to make it really enjoyable.

Rich brown coloured body with a copper glow and a thick, three centimetre tall tan, soapy head. Aroma of alcohol, malt, metal, nuts, earth and a very pungent english hop bitterness. Medium-bodied; Strong medicinal and herbaceous flavour with a lot of bitterness and pungent alcohol tastes coming from every corner. Aftertaste shows a big bitterness, some earthy malt and a lot of nuts - all with a strong alcohol flavour and even stronger medicinal flavour. Overall, a decent beer, but lacking in too many aspects and not showing enough nice depth to be considered a good beer. Still - great to try, and I already can’t wait to be back. I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from La Bodega in Anchorage, Alaska on 04-October-2013 for US$1.50 sampled at home in Washington on 05-December-2013 a few hours before leaving back to Portland.

On tap @ Bridgeport Brewing. Pours caramel with a big creamy head. Aroma is caramel malts, kandi and notes of bread. Medium body with soft carbonation. Flavour is roasted malts, caramel, toffee and bread, as well as some nice sweet hops. Long malty finish, with just a touch of zesty hops.

Very dark brown to purple color. Nose is really nice with a sort of plum and wheat nose and hints of rye but it’s not easy to detect in aroma. Taste is interesting. There’s a lot of maltiness in this beer for a 7.5% ale. Bitter like a baryleywine and the IBUs are totally unforgiving. Really wears on the palate and hard to finish more than 4 ounces.
