Description

330ml bottle. Clear orangey golden colour with small to average, frothy, half-way lasting, moderately lacing, white head. Aroma has notes of lemon tea. Taste is herbal, cautious hints of pine and resin. Not overly characterful.

Bottle at Cafe De La Gare, Den Haag. Poured a lovely mahogany colour with a thin tan head. The aroma is peaty with some malt. The flavour is medium bitter, smoky spicy, liquorice and with some pepper on the palate. A gorgeous stout, but I prefer the richness of the 8.

Bottle at Cafe De la Gare. Pours dark brown with a tan head. Aroma of chocolate, roasted malts, licorice, far lighter than the 8 but still good. Flavour is light moderate sweet and bitter. Medium bodied with soft carbonation. A good beer but compared to the 8 a little lacking in depth.

Bottle @ home. Opaque pitch black color, full sized a bit creamy beige to light brown head that lasts for a long time and leaves good lacing. Smell malts, roastyness, a hint of dark and overripe fruits. Taste dark malts, roasted malts, coffee, moderate to heavy bitter yet softer in the finish, a hint of chocolate and a hint of mocha. Medium carbonation, medium body. Like the Stout 6 this beer also proves complexity is not always necessary to be good.

Borefts warm up -bottle in the Hotel. Almost clear amber beer with a small pale cream coloured head. Palate is light and crisp. Minerals - sharp. A little fresh orangey hop over mild lactose pale malt. Fresh minerally finish. Not the big hit of US hops I was hoping for (by the label) but all right.
