Bottle 330 ml at Pumphouse, Sydney, on July 11, 2013.BB 21.06.14.Large hiss when opened, builds up a huge head. The excessive head build up gets boring fast. Initially at least seems to have a very high co2 level. Black color, brown head after it settles to a nice creamy top with loads of lacing. Sweet, hoppy, some wet tobacco scent. Sweet, bitter, dry cocoa taste. Some alcohol aftertaste, also bitter chocolate. Smooth mouthfeel, medium high bitterness.

Draft at Beervana. Hazy pale yellow color, small white head. Aroma of mild citrus that was a bit overwhelmed by the barbecuing meat at the stall next door. Taste is sweet and sticky orange.

Bottle. Very dark brown with a small tan head that retreats to the rim after a while. Aroma of molasses, blackberries, the beach in winter, hints of tropical fruit. Oily with low carbonation, mineraly. Sweetish with dark chocolate, coffee-ish roasted flavours, bread, laverbread. Bitterness registers late. Complex finish with spices, coffee, berries, brine. Rounder and mellower than expected with the alcohol fairly well hidden, but the power creeps up after a while. Good stuff.

(Bottle) Hazy amber with no head. Good aroma - citrus and pine over biscuity malt. Light to medium body with modest fine carbonation. Taste starts off with a pleasant balance candy sweetness and citrus tang, and quickly develops some pretty aggressive hoppy bitterness for a long intense bitter finish. Nice unusual take on a high bitterness IPA, although I am unsure whether the contrast between the lighter foretaste and the intense bitter aftertaste is inspired or just odd.

Bottle enjoyed at the Euston Tap, London. Pours amber with a decent white head. Hoppy aroma with touch of fruit. Crisp and clean hop flavour and mellow bitterness. For its low ABV, this is a very nice beer.

On tap at Murray’s in Manly, April 2013. Hazy orange with a slight, off-white head. Big, hoppy aroma with grapefruit, orange and pine. Full-bodied, with more citrus fruit, biscuity malts, and some marmalade sweetness, before a dryish finish with a touch of prickliness. Enjoyable.
