In 1872 Friedrich Eder, the founder of the brewery, acquired the brewery and restaurant "Zum Ochsen", which has been known since 1779. This was the nucleus of today's brewery in Grossostheim. In the following decades the company grew steadily.
Since 1999 the Schlappeseppel beers are brewed here.

At Internationales Berliner Bierfestival 2016. Golden with a white head. Aroma and taste of bread, grain and light fruit. Soft and easy to drink.

swingtop bottle from supermarket in spain. clear yellow, smooth white head. sweet malty aroma with some flowery and industrial metallic hops. the slightly higher abv and strength enhances the aroma in a nice way. Flavor is sweet malty with faint caramelly notes. hops are balancing, mild and european. no metal in the flaver as far as i can tell.

Bottle from the tegut supermarket near my hotel in Frankfurt. Pours clear bright amber colour with a small white head. Aroma of biscuit, malt and caramel. Medium sweetness, light bitterness. Medium body, sticky texture, carbonation is lively. Fizzy mouthfeel with a finish of biscuit.

Pours cloudy gold from the bottle and leaves a large, foamy white crown. Aroma is yeasty with pungent notes of decay. The banana remains far more subdued than in most Weizen. Taste is weizen malt, bubblegum, and lightly banana. Overall fairly dry. Closes with an unexpected bitter twist that quickly fades. Palate trends light - this one felt watery in places, particularly at the outset when it was still fairly cold. Decent.

Pours hazy gold from the bottle. After some mixed notes at the outset, a stable, sweet banana and wheat malt aroma forms and guides us the rest of the way. Taste is rather tart with hints of lemon, banana, and pineapple. The finish disappoints - the fruity notes fade almost completely apart from the sweet banana, but this is forced into the background by a pervading stale bitterness. In general the hops profile, slightly stronger than in a normal Weizen, does not quite mesh and tastes like someone mixed 5 parts Weizen to 1 part Jever. The body is on the thin side, but not watery. Decent.
