Bottle. Dark chocolate, molasses malt, and alcohol aroma. Dark black-brown color with nice head. Slightly sweet dark chocolate and coffee malt flavor. Moderately bitter herbal hops and alcohol finish. Not bad.

Bottle. Lemon, rock candy, and light malt aroma. Clear amber color with large head. Very sweet lemon and stale barley malt flavor. Okay - probably a bit past it’s prime.

Purchased at Breeze Thru Liquors in Milwaukee, WI; consumed on a lazy Tuesday night while doing some laundry. Appearance is a slightly brownish gold with a very very thin white head that rims around the glass, tiny carbonation bubbles rising to the top, very lager like. Aroma is definitely unique, not really pungent but I’m not smelling roses here. It has a slight fruit / passion fruit complexity to it, almost smells creamy, not really too horrible. Taste is really not so horrible, I definitely make a sad face whenever I have a sip, but it’s not a \"no way will I have another sip\" beer. Definitely has an unsettling sour quality to it, probably attributed to the sorghum, with almost an apple like quality. When it gets warmer it gets less horrible. Not the worst beer ever, but not far off.

This rating is from three years ago, and it was so bad it stuck out in my memory. I just purchased the Shakparo Ale thinking it was this, but it wasn’t, and I’m glad. Three years ago I went to West Lakeview Liquors in Chicago, IL and found this in the bargain bin for $0.49 per bottle, so I bought four of them. After consuming maybe 2 sips of it, I realized just why it was in the bargain bin, because it was hands down the worst beer I’ve ever had. When trying to determine a good synopsis of what this beer tastes like, I must quote a previous rater of this when I say - It tastes like what i believe that water in the bottom of a dumpster would taste like. If I could elaborate on that rating, I would add that you’d have to soak rotten bananas in a layer of animal dung, throw it in the dumpster, wait a week or two, then drink the water in the bottom of the dumpster. Do yourself a favor and never purchase this, unless you’re a masochist. All hail the worst beer ever made!

Purchased at Breeze Thru Liquors in Milwaukee, WI; enjoyed on a Tuesday night still hurting from my half marathon this past weekend. Appearance a cloudy gold with a very slight ruby hue, little carbonation bubbles ferociously rising to the top, with a thin white head around the rim. Aroma of pepper & spices (are those italian spices? I’m getting oregano...), a slight hint of banana, Belgian yeast, very very unique. Taste for me is actually pretty good, definitely unique for the style as it has a crisp, malty finish that’s almost bread-like, and I’ve never tasted that for the style. Up front you get banana and clove notes, the spices come out towards the middle, and at the end it finishes crisp. I’m pretty happy to have tried this, unique but for me it’s pretty good.

Purchased at Breeze Thru Liquors in Milwaukee, WI; enjoyed during week 1 of the NFL season after running in the hot Chicago Half Marathon this morning. Appearance a rather cloudy vibrant orange with a thin white head that rims around the glass. Aroma mostly subdued, mainly of clove and German yeast. Taste is pretty carbonated for a hefe, not really smooth or crisp, but still has the classic Weiss elements of clove and a touch of citrus. It’s not bad but there are definitely better Weiss beers out there.

Bomber from Woodman’s West Madison. Pours a dark reddish brown with a large frothy tan head. Good head retention and lacing. Aroma of bitter hops, apples and faint roasted malts. The taste is very bitter hops, roasted malts, a tar-like note. Medium bodied. Off-balance.

Bottle, medium creamy deep beige head, opaque brown colour, aroma of coffee and hay with some floral notes and a hint of porchini mushrooms, flavout of roasted coffee with some dried fruits and charred wood in the back, long bitter aftertaste. Nice but nothing too exceptional.
